Embodying the vibrant spirit of Spanish-colonial Mexico, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is a cultural escape, highlighted by colorful plazas, palm-shaded courtyards and a rocky shoreline surrounding a shimmering lake. Set in Lake Buena Vista, the resort is adjacent to Disney-MGM Studios, less than one mile from Disney's Blizzard Beach water park, four miles from the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom, and six miles from Epcot.
The majestic lobby features beamed ceilings and a Spanish fountain and an armoire with glass doors houses a miniature mariachi band. A Mayan-style temple towers over an elaborate pool area with a 123-foot jaguar-like waterslide and cascading fountains. Child-friendly activities include a playground doubling as an archeological dig site for young explorers and the Iguana Arcade.
Don't worry adults, there's plenty for you too, including three quiet pools, the La Vida Health Club and Casa de Belleza Salon for a spot of pampering when you're not having hectic days out at the parks. There is also a marina with bicycle and boat rentals.
With four separate dining and drinking options, there's enough choice to suit everyone. Enjoy breakfast and dinner at the resort's main restaurant, Maya Grill, which features Latin American cuisine with an emphasis on meat and seafood dishes. Alternatively, Pepper Market has a festive street-market atmosphere, with choices including Latin, American, Asian, and Italian cuisines. Cafe Rix provides a lighter choice of quick-bite options, from salads, paninis and freshly baked goods and the Laguna Bar is a lakeside retreat where you can kick back and relax with a refreshing drink.
The brightly-coloured guest rooms are separated into 3 different areas - request your favourite from The Casitas, which offer an urban terra-cotta paradise; The rustic Ranchos, which resemble charming Southwestern pueblos or the classic Cabanas, which provide a quaint beachfront retreat complete with cozy hammocks.
