Any action-packed family holiday in Florida calls for a little downtime, and what better way to unwind than a peaceful round of golf on one of Kissimmee’s world-class courses. Home to dozens of premier greens, the Kissimmee area is a golfer’s paradise and thanks to the Florida sun, players are blessed with 365 days of perfect tee time weather.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a total novice, you’ll be able to find a course in the Kissimmee area to pick up the basics or fine-tune your skills. The most challenging courses are designed by some of golf’s most famous names and even offer professional coaching from respected golf academies.

Golf is a way of life in Kissimmee and you’ll find many of the villa communities have their very own course on resort. So whether you’re looking to play amongst lush fairways or undulating greens, here’s a quick guide to the very best golf courses the villa communities in Kissimmee have to offer.

Reunion Resort

Topping the chart for golf in Kissimmee is the prestigious Reunion Resort. Renowned for its golf facilities, this community is home to no less than three championship courses which attract players from across the globe. In fact, this is the only destination in the world where you can find three signature courses designed by legends such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson. Each course combines the beauty of their natural landscape with challenging layouts which have won them countless awards over the years.

The Tom Watson course is the best of the three and demands a strategic approach to the game winning it the 8th Best Public Course in Florida from Golf Magazine. The innovative Arnold Palmer course is set upon hilly terrain with generously wide fairways and thoughtfully placed bunkers offering a variety of challenges. The Parkland-style layout of the Jack Nicklaus course features long horizon lines with elevated tee boxes and greens which tempt players into taking risky shots which could potentially be more rewarding if played right.

And it doesn’t just end there. Reunion Resort also offers expert instruction from PGA Certified Golf Professionals, expert players providing caddy services, a custom apparel store and even FootGolf (if you don’t know what that is, look it up…it’s fantastic!).

ChampionsGate Resort

Despite being located less than 15 minutes from Walt Disney World, the peaceful golf course at ChampionsGate Resort seems a world away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks. With two courses designed by Greg Norman, the National and International, ChampionsGate provides visitors with 36 holes of championship golf and is known as one of the area’s best tournament venues.

The International Course is a links style course surrounded by beautiful natural wetlands. It features long carries, deep pot bunkers, tall dunes and large wave-like greens. The National Course provides players with a totally different experience compared to the International. Weaving through naturally rolling plains and mature Pine, Oak and Cypress groves, this classic course features calm spring fed lakes, bunker protected fairways and greens, and small putting surfaces.

The ChampionsGate Resort Clubhouse complements these two fantastic golf courses perfectly. Home to a top 100 golf shop, the Pipers Grille, a sports lounge and veranda, this is the ideal place to strategize your next game and socialise with fellow golfers.

Highlands Reserve

The Highlands Reserve community sits atop one of Florida’s highest areas and features a fantastic 18-hole PGA course designed by Mike Dasher. Offering pine tree-lined fairways reminiscent of the Carolinas, spacious emerald-coloured fairways like those in the Scottish Highlands and a slice of old Florida with citrus trees lined along the countryside, this course offers a different experience for every player.

The wide open fairways and landing areas are forgiving for beginner to average golfers, whilst those with a lower handicap can find challenges throughout the undulating greens which are strategically placed throughout the course.

If you want to perfect your swing before teeing-off for the main event, Highlands Reserve has several target greens, a practice bunker and large putting area at your disposal.

Providence Resort

World-renowned golf course designer Mike Dasher brings his passion for European-style courses to Central Florida once again at the Providence Resort. This challenging 18-hole championship course winds through a scenic landscape with freshwater creeks, ancient hardwoods and wetlands. In fact, it’s not unusual to catch a glimpse of otters, deer or other Florida wildlife when playing here.

The Par-72 golf course at Providence Resort is accompanied by a large Clubhouse where visitors will find a 1,000 square foot pro shop selling the latest equipment and apparel, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining and a full-service bar. There’s also a practice facility featuring a driving range and putting green so you can warm up those skills before hitting the main course.
