Florida is the perfect holiday destination for those seeking the ultimate road trip. Spend your holiday roaming around the Sunshine State discovering all that it has to offer. From miles of breathtaking white sandy beaches and enormous state parks, to its unbeatable theme parks and vibrant cosmopolitan cities.

The road trip routes are endless, below we highlight some of Florida’s most loved routes for a spectacular road trip adventure.

Overseas Highway - Miami to Key West


One of Florida’s most breathtaking routes. The 113 mile long Overseas Highway stretches all the way from mainland Miami to Key West, the southernmost point of the Florida Keys. This route only takes three and a half hours, and is one of the world’s most mesmerising and beautiful drives. Travel over the blue seas of the Gulf and take in the views around you, try to time your drive for the morning or evening to ensure that you enjoy a spectacular sunset or sunrise on route.

The drive south from Miami along the Overseas Highway is definitely worth it, enjoy stops along the way, for example in the beautiful Key Largo - where you can dive into the ocean and explore the John Pennekamp Coral Reef. If you’re a fishing fan then head to Islamorada, the ‘Sportfishing Capital of the World’, for those seeking traditional Floridian culture stop of on Marathon island.

Once you’ve explored Marathon Island, hope on the road again south where you’ll find the famous Seven Mile Bridge, one of the longest bridges in America. For those beach lovers among you the Bahia Honda State Park is located just before Key West, this often makes the list of the most beautiful beaches in America - definitely worth a visit on your road trip.

The final stop is Key West, America’s most southern city - a true Caribbean paradise. Key West is an ideal place to end your road trip, spend your days basking in the sunshine, or exploring the white sandy beaches and blue seas.

Canopy Roads - Tallahassee

This region is famous for its signature canopy roads - where huge moss draped oak trees, hickory trees and pines tower over the roads - providing a beautiful canopy overhead. Driving through Florida’s capital couldn’t be more peaceful. There are officially nine canopy roads in Tallahassee, that create over 78 miles of scenic driving.

These beautiful routes are protected roads, treasured by all, the community protect the towering canopies in order to preserve their natural beauty. These routes are iconic and some of the most stunning roads in all of America, so if you’re looking for spectacular scenery head to Tallahassee on your road trip.

Scenic A1A - Ponte Vedra to Flagler Beach - St. Augustine


Florida’s iconic A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway stretches from St Augustine to Daytona Beach, parallel to the Atlantic Ocean. This 72 mile long route winds from Ponte Vedra Beach down to Flagler Beach, the route hugs the eastern coastline and offers some spectacular ocean views.

The A1A route is a ‘beach lovers paradise’, therefore ensure that you make stops on the way to enjoy the white sands of Florida’s Atlantic coast, get out of the car and get sand between your toes or take a dip in the cool waters of the Atlantic ocean.

MacArthur Causeway Bridge - Miami

Horse Country - Ocala


Ocala is a hidden gem located in north central Florida, known as “horse country”, this region is a world away from the theme parks and cosmopolitan cities found in other areas of Florida.
