A Florida multi-centre holiday wouldn’t be complete without a day (or two) mingling with Mickey and friends at Walt Disney World Resort. With six different parks to choose from, plus Disney Springs and the Boardwalk, you’ll have plenty to cram in. Get lost in a world of fairy dust at the Magic Kingdom, enjoy close encounters with wildlife at Animal Kingdom, get your geek on at Epcot, and see movies come to life at Hollywood Studios.
Want to dive into more adventure? Visit the water wonderland of Blizzard Beach or make a splash at Typhoon Lagoon – possibly one of the greatest water parks on earth.

Kennedy Space Center
Enjoy an out-of-this-world experience at the Kennedy Space Center – a 140,000-acre campus where the dreams of some of the world’s greatest scientists took flight. It’s one of the most-visited attractions in Florida, with a Visitor Complex packed with exhibitions showcasing both the history and the future of US space travel.
During your visit, you’ll also discover the Rocket Garden, with its replicas of class rockets; the US Astronaut Hall of Fame; and two IMAX films. You can also book to dine with a real-life astronaut or take part in the Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) – perfect for wannabe space travellers.
Tampa Zoo
Home to over 1,300 animals and famed for having one of the most beautiful tropical zoological settings in the world, ZooTampa at Lowry Park is sure to be a holiday highlight. The zoo was voted one of USA Today’s 10 Best Zoos in the US and is home to one-of-a-kind experiences for a holiday you’ll never forget.
Feed the giraffes, get up close to Indian rhinos, and even touch a giant tortoise during your exciting day out. The zoo is also home to a manatee hospital, caring for sick, injured, and orphaned manatees before they’re released back into the wild. Visiting with the little ones? There are also water splash zones, exciting rides, and educational shows to keep the whole family entertained.
South Beach, Miami
Probably the most famous stretch of sand in Miami Beach and the whole of Greater Miami. Home to pastel-coloured Art Deco buildings and swaying palm trees, you’ll feel like you’re stepping foot inside a movie set – but, trust us, it’s real!
When you aren’t relaxing on the sandy strands, head to Lummus Park – an urban oasis stretching along Ocean Drive from 5th Street to 14th Place. Enjoy people-watching as you spot the runners, walkers and cyclists or climb one of the lifeguard towers for incredible beach views. There’s a playground here too, as well as the infamous ‘Muscle Beach’, where locals and visitors alike work up a sweat in the sunshine.
Clearwater Beach
The award-winning Clearwater Beach oozes serenity, with a laid-back and friendly vibe that’s welcoming to all. Rent a cabana, kick back and relax as the kids play in the sand or gentle waters. Feeling a little more energetic? Try parasailing, paddleboarding, or kayaking, with all available to rent on the beachfront. Don’t worry – the Gulf waters stay balmy year-round, with summer water temperatures averaging at 27-31°C (and even in winter, water temperatures generally hover around 21°C).
Sightseeing and dolphin cruises also set sail nearby; we recommend a sunset cruise for the ultimate wow factor. The beach is also home to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where injured marine life and seabirds are rehabilitated, including sea turtles, sharks, and dolphins.
Fort Lauderdale Beach
Fort Lauderdale’s 24 miles of golden sands are home to some of Florida’s best beaches, but Fort Lauderdale Beach itself is perhaps the jewel in the crown. Enjoy a gentle stroll along the infamous two-mile-long promenade, lined with vibrant restaurants and bars well worth a pitstop. You can also rent a bicycle to explore or hop on a Segway tour.
The beach itself makes an idyllic day out, whether you prefer lazing on the sands or diving into adventure with kayaking, paddleboarding, or surfing. You can even set sail on a real pirate ship for a treasure hunt – perfect for those travelling with little ones!
Bahia Honda, Florida Keys
Although the Florida Keys doesn’t have as many beaches as you’d imagine, the ones it does boast are not to be missed. Our favourites? The beaches at Bahia Honda State Park: Sandspur Beach, Loggerhead Beach, and Calusa Beach.
Sandspur is the most popular, thanks to its white sands and crystal-clear water. Enjoy snorkelling in the shallows or explore the incredible coral reefs and sandbar a little offshore. Loggerhead Beach is a touch quieter, with small rocks and pebbles rather than soft sands. But its tranquillity makes it a great spot for a peaceful day beside the water. Finally, Calusa Beach – the most secluded of the three, with shallow waters that are perfect for little ones and make it a great spot for a family day out.
Luxury Shopping in Naples
Naples is Florida’s ‘upscale shopping capital’, with luxury brands and boutiques aplenty in the coastal town. Fifth Avenue South is the heart of downtown, with the palm-lined street full of boutique stores for one-of-a-kind buys. Third Street South is similar, with independent boutiques and delicious eateries.
Discover the open-air shopping mall of Waterside Shops at Pelican Bay, where you’ll find over 60 luxury retailers – including Gucci, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton – as well as a Saks Fifth Avenue store. The Village Shops on Venetian Bay is also a highlight, with over 45 retailers as well as restaurants and art galleries. And for those who love a bargain, head to Miromar Outlets, featuring over 140 designers and brand names!
One-of-a-Kind Shopping at Disney Springs
Offering one of the best shopping experiences not only in Orlando, but the whole of Florida, Disney Springs is the ultimate boutique-packed destination. From global brands like Zara and Sephora to Disney-centric stores and the LEGO Imagination Center, you’ll find everything you’re looking for – plus everything you never knew you needed (until now). It’s also home to the world’s largest Disney store: World of Disney.
Disney Springs boasts over 130 incredible establishments, from shops and exciting live entertainment venues to snack bars and restaurants by award-winning chefs, making it a great one-stop destination for a family day out. One thing’s for sure, no one will be bored here!
World-Class Shopping at The Palm Beaches
Packing for your Florida twin-centre holiday? Make sure to leave room in your suitcase, because the shopping in The Palm Beaches is not to be missed. Whether you’re treating yourself or a loved one back home, you’ll find something for everyone.
Worth Avenue is a shopping mecca, rivalling the very best shopping districts not only in the US but around the world. Luxury is in abundance, from the designer brand stores like Gucci and Chanel to the galleries and salons that line the streets. More artisanal buys can be found at Pineapple Grove, while bargain hunters will love Tanger Outlets.
Miami
Miami is famed for its shopping, home to Florida’s largest mall as well as the iconic Lincoln Road. At the latter, you’ll find over 200 boutiques with your favourite high street brands, from Zara to Sephora, as well as dozens of restaurants for a quick bite. Aventura Mall, a little outside the city, is the third-largest shopping centre in the US, making it a great spot for retail therapy, with iconic stores like Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.
If you’re searching for luxury, visit the designer stores at Bal Harbour Shops, home to the likes of Prada as well as Saks Fifth Avenue. And in the Miami Design District you’ll find Dior and Balenciaga, alongside many more.
Everglades National Park
For those wanting to get outside and experience the best of Florida’s nature and wildlife, a day at the Everglades National Park is calling. Known as one of the world’s “most beautiful natural assets”, there are over 1.5 million acres to explore and discover.
Hop aboard a tram for a tour around the park, hire a canoe and take to the water (avoiding the gators!), or simply wander the boardwalks and soak it all in. Kids will also love the science courses on offer at the park, making it a great family activity to learn about the Everglades’ rich environment.
The Florida Reef
Be sure to make time for a visit to the continental United States’ only coral reef system during your Florida multi-centre holiday. Spanning nearly 350 miles from the Dry Tortugas off the Florida Keys to the St. Lucie inlet, it includes sites such as the Kristin Jacobs Coral Reef Ecosystem between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach and Biscayne National Park, south of Miami.
The reef is home to more than 40 species of stunning coral and millions of plants and marine animals. Spending a day snorkelling in the shallows or diving in the deep will be an experience you’ll never forget. The reef also offers some of the country’s best fishing, although to protect the natural habitat, there are restrictions.
Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve
“One of the last unspoiled coastal wetlands on the Atlantic Coast”, Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve features salt marshes, coastal dunes, and hardwood hammocks packed with thousands of years of human history. You’ll find the expansive and beautiful preserve within the city limits of Jacksonville.
Get close to nature at Cedar Point and the 600-acre Theodore Roosevelt Area, or enjoy fishing, kayaking, and hiking in the preserve. History buffs can also discover the tale of a lost colony at Fort Caroline or learn about the history of freedom at the Kingsley Plantation, making this the perfect destination for all the family, whatever your interests.
Dry Tortugas National Park
Reachable only by boat or seaplane, the journey to the Dry Tortugas National Park is an adventure in itself. Located 70 miles off the coast of Key West, it’s made up of seven small islands and is one of the world’s most unique eco-attractions.
Tour Fort Jefferson and discover its history or spend the day enjoying some of the best snorkelling and diving in North America. With shallow areas, it’s great for little ones too! Keen bird watchers will also be in their element, with the Dry Tortugas acting as a layover for migrating birds as the site is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail.
Key Lime Pie
This sweet and tart pie is said to have originated in Key West, Florida, but wherever it started, it’s a Florida restaurant menu staple today. Featuring fresh juice from Key limes, the tasty dessert is hard to replicate in other parts of the world or indeed the US, so if you’re going to try a taste, it must be here!
Wondering where’s best to try the zesty treat? We recommend Kermit’s Key West Key Lime Shoppe, Blond Giraffe Key Lime Pie Factory in Key Largo, and Midway Café in Islamorada – all in the Florida Keys. Not visiting the Keys? Head to the National Pie Championship winning Sister Honey’s Bakery in Orlando and Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach, which both also serve the delicious dessert.
Conch Fritters
Conch isn’t just a Caribbean special, it’s a Florida staple too thanks to the incredible fishing opportunities in the state’s Atlantic waters. In fact, fritters are known (to some) as the “escargot of Florida” and have become an iconic dish in the Sunshine State. Best enjoyed with a side of ocean views at the end of a beach day or trip out in nature.
Our favourite places in Florida to dine on the delicious fritters include Sunset Café Waterfront Bar and Grill in Cocoa Beach, The Conch Shack in Key West, and Chef Creole in Miami. Which will you try first?
Stone Crab
Another Florida seafood special is stone crab, which isn’t available year-round, but time your visit between 15th October and 1st May and you’ll get to savour all the stone crab your heart (and stomach) desires. Stone crab can be found in both the Atlantic and Gulf waters, which is what makes Florida a prime location for the delicious seafood.
We recommend Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach for some of the best in the state. Not visiting the Magic City? No problem – Big Fin Seafood in Orlando, Frenchy’s Café in Clearwater, and The Stoned Crab in Key West are also well worth a visit.
Oranges
Officially the state fruit of Florida, oranges are almost always on the menu, from fresh juices and fruity cocktails to zesty citrus-flavoured dishes. Thanks to the state’s subtropical temperatures, plenty of sunshine, and the hurricane season downpours, the fruit has thrived in Florida, giving the oranges a much juicier flavour than those we’re used to back home in the UK.
Try the traditional sour orange pie (popular far before the key lime pie was introduced, but sadly now features on fewer restaurant menus); we recommend Over and Under in Miami, one of the city’s newest bars with delicious pub serves.

Florida is generally 5 hours behind the UK and observes Eastern Standard Time (EST). However, from March through to November, the state observes Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).
It’s worth noting that the US switches to daylight savings on different weekends than we do here in the UK, so sometimes the time difference can be 4 hours or 6. If you’re unsure what the time difference will be during your Florida twin-centre holiday, feel free to speak to one of our friendly team members who will be happy to help you figure it out.
Yes – we encourage it! Florida is a wonderful state packed with places to stay and things to do, and a visit to just one Florida destination can often feel like not enough.

Although a summer visit to the Sunshine State may sound tempting, we recommend avoiding the summer months due to the state’s sweltering temperatures and hurricane season, which runs from June to November. Instead, plan your visit for spring, when you’ll enjoy more comfortable temperatures for beach days and exploring; April sees peaks of 25°C in Panama City to the north of the state and 28°C in Key West at the state’s southern tip.
Autumn is also a great time to visit once the hurricanes have passed; temperatures average at 23°C in Panama City and 26°C in Key West.
Florida has several international airports, making flying from the UK a breeze. Enjoy direct routes from London to Miami International Airport (MIA), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). You can also fly from other UK airports with one stop, including Manchester, Edinburgh, and Birmingham.
Visiting somewhere else in Florida? You can enjoy one-stop flights from London to Tampa international Airport (TPA), Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers.
