Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva.
These resorts are suitable for all budgets and the spectacular views and sunsets alone make it a great place to visit. Fort Myers holidays take you to the gateway of the popular tourist region of Southwest Florida. Sanibel and Captiva are the Southern most Gulf Coast barrier islands just up from Naples and Marco Island. If you are on a tight budget trip you could save yourself some money by making day trips to Sanibel and Captiva from Fort Myers. Sanibel is unspoilt by buildings and the palm trees are the tallest creations around. The same applies to Captiva which is a smaller resort and you may choose to walk or hire a bike to get around.
After an active day on Sanibel Island you can relax with an evening walk on the white sandy beaches or enjoy one of the many excellent fish restaurants on offer. The beaches are home to a vast variety of beautiful shells, but it's worth taking note that some countries don’t allow you to bring sea shells back into them. So make sure you check first. It is a true collectors’ paradise and there is even a museum dedicated to shell information and displays.
There is also a host of entertainment for all the family including arts and crafts fairs, biking, hiking and festivals. It's very important to book your hotel ahead of your journey as these resorts are very popular and often have more tourists than local residents.
