Gulf Coast - Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers

St Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers. Overview.

These resorts are suitable for all budgets and the spectacular views and sunsets are free. Sanibel and Captiva are the two Southern most Gulf barrier islands. If you are on a tight budget trip it is less expensive to make day trips to Sanibel and Captiva from Fort Myers. Sanibel is not spoilt by high rises and the palm trees are the tallest creations! The same applies to Captiva which is a smaller resort and it is easier to drive around than walk or bike.

Sandy white beaches and nice fish restaurants offer a quiet time after hectic days on Sanibel Island. The beaches are home to a vast variety of beautiful shells. Remember to see that there is nothing living inside any shell you collect. Also some countries don’t allow you to bring sea shells back into them. It is a real collectors’ paradise and there is a museum dedicated to shell information and displays.

There are also arts and crafts fairs, hiking and biking, festivals and events for all the family. It is important to book your hotel ahead as these are popular resorts tend to have more tourists than locals.
