Sarasota. Overview.
By the blue waters of Sarasota Bay is the cultured, light hearted, cosmopolitan resort of Sarasota, with its wide variety of attractions. It is a sophisticated town which has access to many beaches along the Gulf, in South West Florida. Sarasota is a great centre for the arts, and the John Ringling Circus and the famous John Ringling Art Collection.
It has many golf courses, writers, artists performing arts venues, galleries and shops. Like many Florida Holidays booked with Ocean Florida, it is great if you holiday alone, as a couple, as a family or in a group. Although it is a rich town it is friendly and it is possible to suit all budgets. Hang out downtown in the cafes and bars to get a real fell for the area.
In downtown Sarasota the streets run on a kind of grid with avenues from East to West and Boulevards from North to South. Ocean Boulevard is North of Siesta Key. To find Siesta Key drive South on US Highway.
But apart from the many wonderful attractions it is the barrier beaches which brings people from across the US to lounge on and love life. Siesta Key is the part of town which has the most relaxed and easy going beach area. Thomas Edison the inventor of the telephone lived here and John Ringling the Circus Entrpreneur. It is also the first city where golf was introduced to Florida from Scotland.
