South Beach. Overview.
South Beach is the place in Miami with the best buzz, humour, style and nonstop night life. It is safe to wander around at night and the best place to watch the staggering sunrise at dawn. South American Hisanics, Blacks and white, gay and straight tourists all get along with each other in their pursuit of happiness in South Beach.
Ocean Drive is its most famous address which overlooks the shoreline with its cafes, restaurants and the good life. It is famous for its beautiful Art Deco District which no photo can really do justice to. There are so many Art Deco areas it would be too much of a challenge to list them. Some modern property developers construct instant imitations with their hotels and condos which do not do Art Deco justice. Sometimes they classify them as ‘Mediterranean Style’.
The real Art Deco gives the world an instant image of the glorious Miami that people fall for. South Beach has two main busy roads with many shops and businesses. They are Collins Avenue lined with a flashy shopping stretch. and Washington Avenuebwhich has small shops run by Cubans as are the nightclubs, therefore somewhat more fun than the clinical Collins Ave.
Museums and art galleries are beautifully planned and worth visit.
