Designed around a lush tropical setting with a private lake, this stunning, 750-room resort offers a wealth of activities (and a helipad) eight miles from Walt Disney World Resort. This hotel, with its evident tropical ambiance, is part of the lushly-landscaped and self-contained Grand Cypress Resort that covers 1,500 acres. The 18-storey, pyramid-shaped Hyatt Regency has three guestroom wings and a 200-foot atrium lobby.
Guests can walk through 45 acres of natural Florida environment by taking the Audubon Walk, with its elevated boardwalk and interpretive signs.
An exquisite range of dining options make this hotel one of our favourite luxury properties, choose from: White Horse Sports Bar and Grill, in addition to big-screen televisions at the bar area, this restaurant offers an expansive appetiser list and entrees such as steaks, fresh seafood and tender lamb chops. Diners can enjoy an ice-cold beer from the bar or a glass of wine from the select wine list; Palm Café, this deli-style restaurant and general store is great for guests on the go. Open continuously throughout the day, the casual setting offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as an outdoor patio dining area; La Coquina, the hotel’s more formal dining room overlooks Lake Windsong; Hemingways, set atop a rock grotto overlooking a palm-fringed, lagoon-like pool, Hemingways recreates the ambiance and flavour of Old Florida, from the pre-dinner specialty drink, “Papa Doble,” to coffee and dessert. Outside, the screened patio offers a relaxed open-air atmosphere; Cascade, accented by a brass spiral staircase and a 35-foot bronze mermaid sculpture, the hotel’s main dining room offers views of the lagoon and Lake Windsong.
The Grand Cypress features 45 holes of Jack Nicklaus–designed championship golf, including 18-hole Scottish links, an award-winning golf academy and an exciting 9-hole pitch-and-putt course. There is also a racquet club with 12 private courts (five are lit at night), an Equestrian Centre and a fully-equipped health and fitness centre. Of course no top-class resort is complete without a huge freeform swimming pool. Also, the private lake offers sandy beaches, canoeing, and sailing for the more adventurous holidaymaker.
Supervised activities are offered for children and families, and, on Saturday nights (weather permitting), kids are invited to a beach fire to roast marshmallows and make s’mores - a classic American treat!
Please note: a resort fee of $22 per day (plus tax) applies and is payable locally.
