Jacksonville in the northeast of Florida fuses city life with beachside relaxation, making it the best destination if you’re torn between holidaying with lazy days on the beach or keeping on your toes with some city sightseeing. The area is fantastic, offering an array of relaxing beaches to chill out on, a load of museums to quench your cultural thirst, and a hub a golf courses for players who fancy a putt on a novice or PGA calibre golf course.

Beaches

Finding itself on the Atlantic Coast, Jacksonville is blessed with more than 20-miles of coastline looking outward onto vast plains of crystal clear ocean. Among this coast are three main spots that holidaymakers and locals pitch up on, including Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach. Expect white sand beaches, a newly redesigned golf course, beach volleyball nets and fishing spots across the coast, as well as a big a surfing scene thanks to having what local surfers consider to be the best waves in the region.

Shopping

The shopping scene in Jacksonville has thrived over the years to become one of Florida’s top destinations for a little retail therapy. Several malls are around the area including Regency Square and Gateway Town Centre, which are great places for a look around if you’re not trying to find anything in particular.

However, if you’re looking for high-end spending then St. John’s Town Centre is a leading spot, offering luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s, and Nordstrom among other top-quality designer goods.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little different then you’re certain to find what you’re after at the Riverside Arts Market. This place features traders under marquees offering all sorts, from fruit & veg to artworks by local artisans, even to home décor and jewellery, all in the aura of an almost Carnival atmosphere.

Golf

With northeastern Florida being known for the sport, its obvious that Jacksonville is packed with golf courses. There are countless greens to tee off on, each one unique and appropriate for golfers of all abilities. The most famous available for the public to take a swing on is the TPC Sawgrass, a PGA level course surrounded by an arena, where spectators can watch over, which is great for some tasteful showboating.

Other note-worthy courses include Bent Creek, which offers revolutionary transit across holes with their new Golfboard, and Windsor Parke Golf Club which offers an outstanding restaurant to enjoy a meal at after your day on the course.

Cultural Leisure Activities

Jacksonville has a lot to offer insofar as the local cultural activities go. The city features an eclectic mix of local attractions that’ll certainly be must-see things on your to-do list if you’re holidaying here.

If you want to see how one of the city’s favourite beers are made then you have a great chance at the Budweiser Brewery Experience. A guided tour takes you the through the process and gives you the chance to enjoy a sample or two.

Alternatively, you could visit Kona Skatepark to check out local athletes grinding rails and catching some airtime over ramps, vert walls and fun-boxes. The local skate scene is massive, and with Kona Skatepark as Jacksonville’s onboard HQ, the atmosphere will be nothing short of electric.

For more sophisticated cultural leisure there is also a load of museums to visit including the Jacksonville the Museum of Science and History, and the Museum of Modern Art which showcases the greatest pieces by contemporary artisans.
