If golf isn't your thing, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy a bit of nature, between the airboat rides and nature reserves you're never far away from some open green space.

Although this place is a sprawling metropolis completely ripe for a city break, there are huge stretches of beach for you to get your fix of shoreside relaxation. Get your shades on and lay your towels, since there’s plenty of space for you to kick back and take in some rays. The atmosphere is brilliant too, since it’s a hub of water sports and a surfing hotspot, as well as home to a load of beachfront restaurants.

Jacksonville has its own fantastic set of waterways for you to sail on during your city getaway. The area is renowned for the beautiful canals which make the St. John’s River meet the Atlantic Ocean, making for a great afternoon of appreciating Jax’s natural beauty. With plenty of tours and boating outlets ready to send you downstream, you’ll have a load of opportunities to see the gorgeous waters of St. John’s River and beyond.

Being the largest city in the state, it’s no surprise to see that Jacksonville is packed full of wonderful artistic and cultural offerings. Head to Alhambra Theatre & Dining for a slap-up meal during operatic performances, or the Jacksonville Museum of Science & History where you can school yourself during your holiday. Or, see classical music come to a crescendo at the Jacoby Symphony Hall.
