Our 5 favourite places to celebrate Independence Day in the US

The smell of family barbeques, the sound of exploding fireworks, the celebrations of mass parades marching the streets; the buzz and excitement of Independence Day can be seen and heard all around the nation.

If you’re lucky enough to be in the States on July 4^th, you’re in for a good time. So we’ve put together 5 of the best places to join in the festivities and celebrate America’s independence.

Disney World, Florida

Disney World is never one to shy away from festive celebrations and 4^th July is no exception! If you’re in Orlando on Independence Day, then Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is one of the best places to be. With a dazzling display put on for your entertainment including fireworks, special effects and inspiring music, this event has been labelled a ‘patriotic extravaganza’. Both children and adults will love this night-time spectacle on the 3^rd or 4^th of July which is a fantastic tribute to America’s independence.

New York

During the day head to Brooklyn’s beach town, Coney Island, where thousands flock to enjoy the Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest before getting themselves ready for an incredible Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks display which lights up the sky over the Hudson River. Perhaps the best viewing point is along the west side of the river but for something extra special and romantic, how about boarding a New York Dinner Cruise? Enjoy a 5 course meal with a panoramic view of the New York City skyline and spectacular views of the fireworks.

Washington D.C



What better way to celebrate this historic day in America’s history than in the capital itself. If you want to experience the whole patriotic side of Independence Day, then you can certainly count on Washington D.C to deliver. Thousands will gather to enjoy ‘A Capital Fourth’, with a spectacular parade at the National Mall and some fantastic performances from some of the country’s best-known musical artists. There will also be a performance from the National Symphony Orchestra who will continue to play along while the fireworks explode into action in the sky above.

Las Vegas 

You can always guarantee a party in Vegas. No matter what day it is, every day is a celebration when you’re in the entertainment capital of the world, and July 4^th is no different. There are a few firework displays around, although they are quite short. However, Independence Day falls on a Friday this year and on a Saturday next year, so you can expect some of the best parties in the country over the weekend in Vegas if you want to party until the early hours.

San Francisco

 Not to be outdone by other cities around the country, San Francisco puts on their ‘Fourth of July Celebration at The PIER’ which is concluded with an incredible fireworks display over San Francisco Bay. There is also a fantastic atmosphere along the waterfront with various food stalls and some live musical entertainment throughout the day. Much like New York, you can also book a dinner cruise if you’re looking for something a little more romantic. Alternatively, you can also book a cruise where you can bring your own food and drink on-board enjoying the view from the water.
