With a superb location along Florida’s spectacular Gulf Coast, it’s no surprise that St. Pete/Clearwater is home to some of the best beaches in the Sunshine State, but what else do these two fantastic coastal cities offer? We’re going to show you with our guide to the best of St Pete/Clearwater.

Best Beaches

A near-perfect white sand beach with clear shallow waters and a palm-lined Beach Walk Promenade with plenty of shops and eateries. Head to the north side of the beach to escape the bustle of Pier 60 and Clearwater Marina.

St. Pete Beach/Pass-a-Grille Beach: Pass-a-Grille Beach is a long undeveloped stretch of St. Pete Beach where you won’t find any high-rise buildings or crowds. Go shelling or snorkelling and soak up the laid-back vibes of this Old Florida beach.

Best Downtown Areas

St. Petersburg: Take a walk along Central Avenue and Beach Drive where you’ll discover a host of fantastic galleries, shops, museums, bars and restaurants whilst taking in the amazing views of Tampa Bay.

Dunedin: Explore Main Street of quaint Downtown Dunedin and browse in a number of local antique stores, clothing boutiques and unique gift shops. You can also stop for a drink or a bite to eat with a variety of alfresco eateries and taverns also located along the street.

Best Sporting Events

Tampa Bay Rays: Top off your day at the beach with a classic American baseball game. Crowds flock to the Tropicana Field to catch The Tampa Bay Rays taking on opponents like the Boston Red Socks in Major League Baseball.

Firestone Grand Prix of St. Pete: The Firestone Grand Prix roars into Downtown St. Petersburg every March for three days of high-speed action and plenty of family fun.

Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival: There’s no room for collapsing castles here, this ten-day festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Clearwater Beach who gather to watch sculptors transform tons of sand into artistic masterpieces.

Clearwater Jazz Holiday: This world-class jazz festival comes to town for four days and is held at Coachman Park along the waterfront and has featured famous artists like Dizzy Gillespie and Dave Brubeck.

Mazzaro’s Market: This famous St. Pete’s food market does get busy at times but it’s worth a visit for the focaccia, cheese room and deli counter alone.

Saturday Morning Market: Every Saturday from October to May between the hours of 10am and 2pm, locals and visitors head to downtown St. Petersburg to pick up fresh produce, sample delicious street food and catch live music whilst browsing artisan booths.
