Hotel Monteleone is this month’s hotel of the month. Grand architecture, refined interiors and a carousel bar make this the perfect place to stay when visiting New Orleans.

Located in the French Quarter of the Big Easy, this stunning hotel is in the heart of all the action. One block from the legendary Bourbon Street and close to many appetising restaurants.

As you walk up Royal Street, the road the hotel sits on, you’ll notice it’s the tallest building in the French Quarter. Standing proud, Hotel Monteleone was built in 1886 in the Beaux-Arts architectural style which is synonymous with the rest of the city’s buildings. It’s a historic landmark, a member of the Historic Hotels of America and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. With so much beauty on the outside, you’ll be pleased to know it’s just as gorgeous inside.

The Rooms

Sleep in luxury surroundings from standard guest rooms to the Literary Suites, where famous American writers have stayed, including William Faulkner, Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, Ernest Hemingway and Eudora Welty.

Standard guest rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Coffee makers, in-room safe, refrigerator, HD LCD TVs and plush robes. Finished with traditional furniture and décor, expect high ceilings, crown moulding as well as marble and granite bathrooms. We recommend opting for a preferred room which is boasts views of either the Mississippi or the French Quarter.

Dining

Ciollo is the resident restaurant at the Hotel Monteleone. Taking the Spanish word for creole, the Ciollo menu celebrates the vibrant flavours and fiery dishes of this Louisiana cuisine. Influences of Italian, French, Spanish, African and Caribbean have helped to create some of the most delicious and not to be missed dishes, and Ciollo showcases each and every one of them.

Hotel Monteleone is also known for the Carousel Bar & Lounge. Featured in the works of many literary greats, this bar is a long-time favourite with visitors to the city. The focal point of the lounge is the circus-clad merry-go-round revolving bar. The enticing cocktail menu offers classic and signature drinks, choose from the delectable delights such as Sazarac, Pina Colada and a Pimm’s Cup.

Relaxation

Another highlight of the hotel is the rooftop pool. Soak up views of Downtown New Orleans and the Mississippi river as you swim, relax and bask in the sun. Take a late-night dip and have a swim once the sun has set, the pool is open until 10pm. The pool bar, makes the rooftop the perfect place to hang out. Serving light snacks and cocktails, take some time out, away from the hubbub of the city.
