Race Through New York With Jimmy Fallon is one of the newest attractions at Universal Orlando Resort. This 3D simulator opened in April 2017 boasting cutting edge technology, interactive virtual queueing system, plus a hair-raising ride. We’ve picked it as our November ride of the month simply because we think the virtual queueing system is awesome and the ride is super fun.
Virtual Queueing System
As we’ve just mentioned, this is one of the ride’s unique selling points, we can’t think of any of ride in Orlando which operates this way. Queueing is probably one of the only downfalls with theme parks, especially if you’re hot, bothered and tired. You won’t be fed up at all whilst waiting for your turn on Race Through New York. The attraction has been turned into a replica of the 30 Rockerfeller, where the show is filmed. What’s more, the corridors of the NBC Studios have also been replicated, so you feel like you’re actually on set.
Once you walk into the foyer, you’ll be presented with memorabilia from the Tonight Show’s 62-year history. You’ll see artefacts from each of the hosts which include their suits, desk props, cameras and attendance tickets. This is the first section of the queue.
The next part is on the second floor and where it gets really fun. You’ll find lots of interactive and entertaining features, from live performances by The Ragtime Gals Barbershop, meet and greets with Hashtag the Panda. There’s also screens which loop Jimmy’s monologues, History of Rap, Lip Sync Battle and desks where you can send personalised Tonight Show Thank You Notes. As you can see, this isn’t any ordinary queue.
Riders will hop into The Tonight Rider
and Jimmy challenges guests to (you guessed it) a race through New York. On this 3D simulator, you’ll pass all the landmarks from Times Square to the subway, Hard Rock Café and Radio City Music Hall. Make sure your hold on tight, you’re in for a bumpy ride as you race around Manhattan. You’ll probably bump into some familiar faces, too! Cool effects can be expected, like the smells of the iconic New York Pizza and small splashes of water when through East River.
We’ve found a cool video which gives you a little taster of the ride:
