Just a 25 minute drive southwest of Orlando lies the enchanting Celebration, a picturesque town inspired by classic America that is brimming with old-world charm. Founded by the Walt Disney Company in the 1990s and once named one of Forbes Magazine’s prettiest neighbourhoods in America, it’s a hidden gem for Florida holidays. From horse-drawn carriage rides to boutique shopping, here’s how you can make Celebration live up to its name…

Enjoy a Lakeside Stroll

Sometimes you just need to unwind in nature. And in Celebration, the grass really is greener. Lake Rianhard is located right across the street from Celebration Town Centre, and is perfect for a leisurely stroll. When the stomach rumbles start up, there's also ample green spaces to lay down a blanket and tuck into a picnic basket. Better yet, keep your eyes peeled for all sorts of Floridian wildlife, including the main star - the alligator. If you to stay active, you can also play tennis at Celebration Lakeside Park or hop on a bike for a waterfront ride.

Indulge in Sweet Treats

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a visit to Kilwins Celebration. Here, you will find a host of delightful ice cream flavours, including Georgia Peach, Marsh-Mallow S’more, and Raspberry Ripple. Kilwins also serves up other sweet confections like caramel apples and fudge squares.

Another must visit is Le Macaron. This Paris-inspired shop is a treat for both the eyes and the tastebuds. Here, you will find rows and rows of colourful macrons with even more colourful flavours, including the likes of basil white chocolate, strawberry key lime, and champagne. Plus, with its lakeside location, you could even get your macarons to go and enjoy a peaceful stroll as you tuck into French pastry heaven.

Small Town Shopping

Discover unique treasures with a stroll down Market Street. Lined with charming little boutiques, this is the place to grab those special mementos from your Florida holiday. At Market Street gallery, you have a wide selection of gifts to choose from, including tote bags, home décor, and Disney-themed goodies. If you’re looking to add a little bling to your collection, Gypsy Moon is the place to go for jewellery essentials. And if you want to get your hands on some comfortable resort wear, Soft as a Grape has a wide selection, including slogan tees and jumpers. So, if you need to sort some last minute comfies for that plane ride home, this is the place to be.

Dine in Style

Whether you’re after a casual bite or a hearty meal, Celebration’s food scene is sure to fill your appetite. Start your day right with breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit Company, where comfort food comes with a modern twist. We recommend the Risky Biscuit for delicious gravy-soaked butter milk biscuits.

For a satisfying meal at the end of the day, take your pick from an array of international dining options. Ari Sushi offers up a tempting selection of Japanese and Korean dishes, including bibimbap, tempura shrimp, and teriyaki chicken, while Thai Thani has some of the finest Thai cuisine in town. And if you’re dining for a special occasion, Reggiano’s of Celebration is the perfect choice. This upscale eatery features a delicious menu of authentic Italian cuisine in an elegant setting adorned with chandeliers and flickering candlelight.

Explore by Horse-Drawn Carriage

There’s no better way to explore the fairytale setting of Celebration than with a horse-drawn carriage ride. Misty Blue Acres Carriage Company offers carriage rides every Friday and Saturday evening. It departs from the town centre’s lakefront and slowly meanders on a 20-minute ride through the town’s quintessentially American streets. So, whether you’re in the market for a little romance or just looking for a unique way to explore this part of the Sunshine State, there’s no better way to do it. Little ones will also love the chance to feel like a real-life princess in the special Cinderella-esque carriages.

Take a Cooking Class

Get the whole family involved with a cooking class in Celebration. At U Can Cook, you will learn the basics of food preparation, food safety skills, and the art of layering flavours. You can choose from a variety of programs for different interests and skill levels. But whether you’re just after a bit of fun or you are looking to prepare for your next dinner party, one thing for sure is that you will be learning from the best in the business. Catering to all ages, it’s something for everyone to enjoy, making it an ideal family bonding holiday activity.

Check out Markets and Seasonal Events

Spend your Sunday in Celebration by scoping out some of the best local produce and hand-made crafts at the weekly Farmer’s Market. The ambience is always lively and it’s a fantastic way to support local businesses. The Celebration Art Show is also a great way to check out home-grown talent. Taking place in late Feburary, it showcases paintings, jewellery, woodwork, and more by dozens of artists and is an ideal spot to get your mitts on something unique.

If you are lucky enough to visit at the end of the year, this is also a wonderful opportunity to soak up the many festive events the town holds. Visits with Santa, an ice rink, fake snow, and a towering Christmas tree are just a few of the ways Celebration goes all out for the holidays.
