A trip to Miami doesn’t have to be all about sun, sea, and sand. There are plenty of great cultural attractions here too, including HistoryMiami. As the largest history museum in Florida, with four permanent galleries and up to three travelling exhibits, there’s plenty to see and learn about in the main museum. Take a look at 12,000 years of the People’s History of South Florida at the Tropical Dreams Exhibition. Investigate the materials and artefacts collected centuries ago, in the Archaeology Collection. Whatever it is you want to know about Miami’s history, you’re sure to find the answers here.
Aside from the artefacts and attractions at the museum, you’ll also find plenty to discover at the other centres run by HistoryMiami, such as the South Florida Folklife Center. Here, you can explore the region’s traditional art and culture, such as Caribbean Percussion Traditions and Haitian Community Arts. Another program offered by HistoryMiami is the City Tours. Giving you unique access to the hidden secrets and neighbourhoods of the city, you’ll get to explore a new region of Miami with every visit.
HistoryMiami Museum is located in the downtown Miami area in the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza. Parking is available at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center Parking Garage. Alternatively, bus transportation stops by the museum.
