Universal Orlando Resort by name - Universally loved holidays by nature. However, knowing when the right time to take your kids there can be a crucial factor, not just for their enjoyment but for yours too. With differing ticket prices and ride requirements per age to think of - as well as what attractions will satisfy all ages - we are here to help you plan the ultimate Universal Orlando Resort getaway for 2024 and beyond…

Price differences for children at Universal Orlando Resort

When it comes to family holidays in Orlando, any savings go a long way. After all, the more you save on park tickets, the bigger spending spree you can have whilst there. That’s why it’s important to consider ticket prices for each age group when planning your trip to Universal.

While children 10 and over need to pay full adult prices, children aged 3-9 have child ticket prices and under 3s go free. Plus, with smaller mouths to feed, you can also take advantage of cheaper meal options. So, if you do decide to start them off early at theme park heaven, your bank account won’t take as much of a hit.

You can purchase Universal Orlando Resort theme park tickets with expert guidance through Ocean Florida.

Height restrictions at Universal Orlando Resort

Due to a larger number of rides geared towards older children at Universal Orlando Resort, height restrictions are in place. Although there is still plenty to keep even the tiniest tots entertained, some of the most popular attractions, such as Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, E.T. Adventure, and Revenge of the Mummy, require riders to measure up before embarking. Checking any restrictions before going is always an effective way to stave off any disappointment on the day. It also gives you a chance to plan your day accordingly, instead of waiting in long lines only to discover your little one is just a bit too little to ride.

Taking children under 5 to Universal Orlando Resort

While Universal Orlando Resort doesn’t cater to children under 5 quite as much as Walt Disney World Resort, it does have its fair share of attractions to keep a smile on their faces.

Areas like Suess Landing and Woody Woodpecker’s Kidzone are sure to please, with plenty of rides aimed at under 5s. And when it’s time for calm, you can take a stroll around Production Central, where a host of kiddie favourites, such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Hello Kitty, are eager to mingle. Plus, it’s never too early for mini muggles to become wizards in training at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Universal also offers several childcare facilities, including changing stations and pram rentals. You can also take advantage of the handy Child Swap Programme, which allows for each adult to get a shot on a ride without having to wait in line again.

Another benefit of taking children under 5 to Universal Resort and Orlando theme parks in general is that you don’t need to plan your holiday around school term times. This means you can avoid the crowds as well as get cheaper deals to suit your budget.

Taking children under 10 to Universal Orlando Resort

There are many benefits to taking children between 5 and 10 to Universal Orlando Resort. Not only will they be able to remember the fun and frolics, but they will also be able to enjoy more rides. This makes planning your park days just that little bit easier. Being a little older, they may also have firm favourites when it comes to their films. So, whether it be Shrek, The Minions, or Harry Potter, they’ll be itching to bring their movie screen dreams to life. And if you’re staying at one of the Universal Orlando Resort Hotels, taking advantage of their Early Park Admission is a great way to experience popular attractions with shorter wait times, perfect for families with energetic youngsters on board.

Kids in the 5 to 10 age bracket can also appreciate many of the shows on offer at Universal Orlando Resort. Shows like the Triwizard Spirit Rally and Animal Actors on Location are perfect for kids in the higher end of the bracket, while Oh! The Stories You’ll Hear! at Seuss Landing in Islands of Adventure is bound to keep the smaller ones thoroughly enthralled.

Taking teenagers to Universal Orlando Resort

There should be no moody teenagers in tow on this holiday. Universal Orlando Resort is ideal for this age group as there are plenty of the biggest and baddest rides on offer, perfect for adrenaline-junkie teens. Some of the best thrills can be found in Islands of Adventure, home to incredible, hair-raising rides like The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. And for younger teens, the simulator rides at Universal Studios are an excellent choice if they’ve not quite worked up the courage for the scream-inducing roller coasters yet.

Aside from more options when it comes to rides, there is also more quality family time to be had with teenagers as they will still be wide awake for that nightly entertainment that Universal Orlando Resort does so well. Watch together in awe at the dazzling Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle or get swept away in Hollywood history with Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration.

Plus, going to Universal Orlando Resort with teens is the perfect chance to take advantage of some of the resort’s special events. Do your kids love a good scare? Taking them to Halloween Horror Nights is sure to do the trick (and treat). Or perhaps Christmas is their favourite time of year? Well, there’s nothing better than Christmas in The Wizarding World or Grinchmas in Suess Landing.

So, although you may be paying a little extra for that holiday of a lifetime with teenagers, it’s guaranteed to be worth every penny.
