Things to know before you go
Inclusive Option
Inclusive Option
1) Alamo will charge extra for a full tank of fuel when you collect the car, based on a competitive local rate. You can then return the car empty. Refunds are not given for unused fuel.
2) If you choose to decline fuel option 1 (pre-paying at the counter), you can take the car with a full tank of fuel and then return it full by filling up before you bring it back. If the tank is not returned full you will be charged at Alamo's higher fuel rates for them to fill up the missing amount.
Gold Option
Upon pick-up you will have a fuel tank of fuel - no refunds will be given for any unused fuel.
Documents Required
All drivers must produce both parts (if applicable) of their full, valid British/EU driving licence, which must have been held for at least one year. International licences are widely accepted; please check with your Ocean Florida Specialist at the time of booking.
In certain destinations, drivers must have held a full licence for a minimum of 3 years. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that they have the appropriate licence. Both parts are required if you have the new style photocard. Faxed copies are not accepted.
Security Deposit
All clients must provide a valid credit card/Visa debit card in the lead driver’s name as a form of deposit when collecting the rental car. Cash deposits are rarely acceptable.
Rental Voucher
The pick-up and drop-off times work on a 24-hour clock i.e. if your voucher is showing the pick up time as 5pm but you pick the car up at 10am this will not cause a problem. However, your car will be due back on your return date by 10am. If the car is returned any later you will be charged for an additional day’s rental.
Points on your licence
This will not cause a problem as long as you hold a valid UK Driving Licence.
Child Seats
Child seats are required by Law for children up to the age of 5, the seats must be pre-booked prior to travel. However, a fee of approximately $7 per day will need to be paid for locally. Please contact our Customer Service Team on 0845 2417691 for more details.
Excess
NO excess is payable if you have an accident or damage the car. The only exception to this is if you have invalidated the car insurance e.g. by drink driving etc.
Up-selling
Alamo will offer you a range of up-selling options to your car hire upon pick up such as (see below). You are not obliged to accept any upgrade; any upgrades selected will be at an additional charge to you which you would need to pay locally.
Personal Accident Insurance
In most cases this is included in your travel insurance.
Personal Effects Coverage
This covers you or your blood relatives and all of your belongings when you are travelling in the rental car.
Roadside Plus (includes basic breakdown cover)
This means that should the vehicle break down providing it is due to a mechanical failure then you will be picked up and offered another vehicle. Similarly if you should be involved in an accident that is not your fault then you will be offered a new vehicle. It also covers key replacement, flat tyres, towing (unrelated to an accident), jumpstart, lockout service, fuel delivery (up to 3 gallons).
Car Class Changes
The car chosen at the time of booking should be an adequate size for your party and their luggage. You may be encouraged to upgrade to a larger vehicle, based on the local car rentals assessment of your party size and needs whilst you are on vacation.
