Anna Maria Island Holidays
Anna Maria Island Holidays
Facing out onto the Gulf Coast is the beautiful Anna Maria Island, a perfect Florida holiday destination to kick your feet up and relax like never before. Under a 20-minute drive from the nearby town of Bradenton, you’ll find this an excellent location to head to for a beach-day if you’re staying on the mainland. If you'd rather a quiet break away from the city, Anna Maria Island's idyllic and laid-back vibes will be what you're after. Stay in one of the many villas in the area, each with their own private pool.
Anna Maria Island offers the more relaxed of Florida getaways, truly for families and holidaymakers that appreciate a bit of peace and quiet, with a bit of easy-going sports and recreational activities on the side. With gorgeous scenery everywhere you turn, there are plenty of opportunities to soak up the picturesque views of the gorgeous Gulf as you sink into bliss.
Activities
Anna Maria Island is bursting with fun for the whole family, thanks to a good mix of activities being scattered across the island. At the northernmost point of the isle is Anna Maria Bayfront Park, a lovely beach front with great facilities for kids and adults alike. There are play areas for kids surrounded by sand and plenty of picnic pavilions with grills, making for a great location to enjoy a beachside BBQ.
There is also a shedload of water sport outlets available on the island, as you might expect from this gorgeous location. Some include Absolute Anna Maria, offering boat and jet ski rentals, and Beach Bums Island Attitude which rents bicycles, paddle boards and kayaks.
If you’re looking for something a little more energetic then the neighbouring town of Bradenton has just the ticket for adrenaline-junkies. About a half-hour’s drive away from the island is Andersen RacePark, where those with a need for speed can hop in a go-kart and race to the finish line in this fantastic family-fun pastime.
Nightlife
With a holiday to Anna Maria Island you may not expect a nightlife akin to other Florida destinations like Miami, but you’ll certainly find a good collection of inviting bars to enjoy a few drinks in. Some notable bars include Bortell’s Lounge, and The Ugly Grouper, a lovely alfresco food and drinks shack perfect for catching the sunset. Or, if you fancy tapping your feet to some live music of an evening, Slim’s Place holds regular open mic nights and live performances every Friday evening.
There’s plenty of good stuff going on in the evening after your relaxing beach days, so order a drink and let the party begin!
