South Carolina Holidays 2024 & 2025

When you're drinking a cup a sweet tea beneath the shade of a palmetto tree and the air around you is full of the sultriness of the Deep South, then you know you're in South Carolina. This is a state where you can feel the history in the air, and old plantation houses and antebellum homes stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Revolutionary War sites. But it's also a place with all mod cons, where you can get your thrills riding roller coasters, battling white water rapids and teeing off on first-class golf courses. 

The beach is a good a place to start on South Carolina holidays. Myrtle Beach is famed for its 60 miles of golden sands complete with everything you could ever imagine for the perfect family vacation. Hilton Head Island has an upscale vibe with pristine beaches and manicured greens, and is the ideal destination if you're into tennis, golf and beach games on the sand. And all along the coast there are deserted inlets and nature preserves where you can stroll among the dunes looking out for alligators and turtles. 

South Carolina holidays are about more than just the coast though: head inland and you'll find scenery to make your head spin. Hike to the state's highest point in up country Caesars State Park for sweeping views over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Try one of South Carolina's 12 inland lakes and you'll discover tranquil waters, great fishing, and watersports. Or explore Conagree National Park for shady swamps and the tallest tress in the eastern US. 

When you want to get in touch with America's past, head for Charleston's Historic District or to Fort Sumter where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. Then look around and you'll agree that the present in South Carolina is every bit as good.
