Your journey through the Kennedy Space Centre Visitor Complex begins at the fantastic Atlantis Theatre. Here you'll find the iconic Space Shuttle Atlantis, the historic spacecraft that demonstrates the fascinating story of NASA's 30 year Space Shuttle Program. Stand within inches of this famous space shuttle and experience a whole host of multimedia presentations, more than 60 interactive exhibits and a number of high-tech simulators that bring this colossal piece of engineering to life. Discover everything you need to know about outer space and witness the astounding achievements of those who built the International Space Station and launched the Hubble Space Telescope. This is a celebration of galactic proportions.
Experience the adventures of a real space flight first-hand on what veteran astronauts have described as 'the next best thing to an actual space shuttle launch'. The Shuttle Launch Experience® puts you at the heart of a space mission, engaging all of your senses and taking you one step closer to becoming an astronaut. Enter the space shuttle operations zone for a prelaunch briefing by former Space Shuttle Commander, Charlie Bolden, then take a seat and brace yourself for lift-off. Feel the mighty G-forces pushing you back into your seat as you travel at simulated speeds of almost 17,500 mph to outer space. Just when the G-force is about to get too much, you suddenly reach orbit and are taken over by an unimaginable feeling of weightlessness.
See if you have what it takes to become a full-fledged member of team NASA with the Astronaut Training Experience (ATX)®. Developed with the guidance of veteran space travellers, this half-day training experience gives you a taste of exactly what astronauts go through before they embark on a space adventure. Starting with a question and answer session with a veteran NASA astronaut, you'll get to gear up for space travel with a host of incredible simulators. Sit in the 1/6th Gravity Chair to experience the feeling of weightlessness on the moon and brave the Multi-Axis Trainer which randomly spins and twirls occupants through 360 degree revolutions. Once your training is complete, you'll be assigned a specific role and get to take part in a full-scale simulated space mission.
