Emerging out of the Nevada desert is a giant, neon-lit playground of world-class hotels, dining, and entertainment that needs to be seen to be believed. Pleasure-seekers flock to Las Vegas – or simply Vegas as it’s often called – for long weekends, stag and hen parties or as part of multi-centre holidays in the USA.
With gambling, drinking and partying along ‘The Strip’ a large element of the Vegas vibe, it is certainly a destination for adults, yet there is much to see and do for families with children. From theme parks and aquariums to kid-friendly shows and even a children’s museum, the little ones will be thoroughly entertained every single day.
One thing is for sure: there really is nowhere quite like Las Vegas.

Our Las Vegas Favourites
Bellagio Fountains
Whether you’re staying at the Bellagio or not, it’s practically a rite of passage for visitors to Vegas to go and watch the hotel’s world-renowned fountains on display. One of the most complex water features ever designed, there are more than a thousand fountains waving in front of the hotel alongside a synchronised music and light show, which runs every 30 minutes (and every 15 minutes after 7pm).
The fountains span more than a thousand feet across with water shooting over 460 feet into the air, creating a jaw-dropping spectacle that cannot be missed on Las Vegas multi-centre holidays. Sit down and enjoy the display or take it one step further and book a romantic dinner with this unique cascading backdrop.
The Strip
‘The Strip’ is a 4-mile expanse of Las Vegas Boulevard, which is lined by world-class hotels and casinos such as Caesar’s Palace, Luxor Hotel & Casino and The Signature at MGM Grand, to name a few. It’s considered the most expensive stretch in the world and is the place where the majority of Las Vegas fun happens.
There are many ways to explore The Strip including shuttle buses, trams, taxis or by hire car, if you’re driving on Las Vegas twin-centre holidays. However, many people choose to walk and soak up the surreal sights at their own pace – just keep in mind the weather gets very hot here, after all, this is the desert!
Theatre Shows
Las Vegas is THE place for musical superstars to come and hold residencies for weeks, months or sometimes years at a time. Adele, Lady Gaga, Lionel Richie, Bruno Mars, Sting (the list goes on) have all appeared at various hotels delivering bold, out-of-this-world concerts that cannot be matched other than in Vegas.
The city is also known for its incredible musical theatre shows such as Jersey Boys, The Blue Man Group, and the illustrious Cirque du Soleil, as well as an array of comedy performances and magicians at the height of their craft.
Hoover Dam
While not technically in the city but in the Black Canyon area along the Colorado River, the imposing Hoover Dam is a prime attraction that straddles the Arizona-Nevada border and features on most must-see lists for multi-centre holidays in Las Vegas. A 40-minute drive southeast takes you to this incredible feat of engineering, a concrete arch-gravity dam built during the Great Depression to hold back the mighty river, which formed Lake Mead, the world’s largest reservoir.
The dam – a National Historic Landmark since 1985 – irrigates over 1.5 million acres of land, while its 17 huge turbines generate enough hydroelectricity to power 1.3 million homes. It’s free to visit, making it a worthwhile morning out from the hubbub of the city!
Sphere at The Venetian
Las Vegas’s revolutionary new entertainment venue breaks the mould with its state-of-the-art technology, offering an unparalleled multi-sensory experience. Sphere at The Venetian is the world’s largest spherical structure – standing at 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide – with its outer shell covered in 1.2 million LED lights the size of hockey pucks, while inside is a 16k x 16k high-definition screen spanning halfway around the sphere.
The venue holds 17,000 people and includes 10,000 haptic seats for a truly immersive experience. In 2023, rock band U2 performed the first music concerts in the Sphere to worldwide veneration, and the upcoming Sphere Experience promises to be an unmissable attraction with intense special effects and interactive elements in a thrilling exhibit.
Neon Museum
One of many speciality museums in Las Vegas is the dazzling Neon Museum, which houses more than 200 retired signs from casinos, hotels and businesses over decades of being one of the world’s most beloved entertainment destinations.
Its 2-acre ‘Neon Boneyard’ – best visited from sunset onwards to feel its full effect – features over 250 unrestored signs lit up from the ground, as well as several restored signs that are constantly illuminated. Walk through the grounds and learn about the history of each piece, and don’t miss Brilliant! the spellbinding 360-degree audiovisual show that takes you through the history of 40 iconic signs using augmented reality, light and sound. It’s a fabulous evening out!
The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort
The Venetian Resort is a dreamlike homage to the beautiful city of Venice and with its Renaissance theme, you’ll feel like you’re promenading the cobblestone streets and piazzas of old-world Italy on your Las Vegas multi-centre holidays. The resort’s Grand Canal Shoppes is a prime Vegas destination for luxury shopping, featuring more than 160 signature stores with dozens of designer brands, top-quality restaurants and the unique Streetmosphere® – a series of street performers and musicians singing and acting to add a little ambience.
No trip to Venice would be complete without a gondola ride along its blue canals, and it’s no different at The Venetian. Grab hold of your shopping and hop in an authentic Venetian gondola for a tranquil ride, gliding underneath bridges and past cafés down the Grand Canal.
Downtown Container Park
If your Las Vegas twin-centre holiday involves travelling with kids but they’re not overjoyed about joining you on a shopping spree, this place is for you. The very cool Downtown Container Park is an open-air shopping centre, amusement park and entertainment venue all rolled into one, located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas.
This pioneering venue comprises repurposed shipping containers and modern Xtreme Cubes to include dozens of well-known retail stores, boutiques, restaurants and bars as well as a stage for regular live performances and presentations. Best of all, kids will adore the interactive play area with three huge slides, the treehouse and the lawns with plenty of games and space for them to run around!
Fashion Show Las Vegas
The largest shopping, dining and entertainment venue on The Strip, Fashion Show Las Vegas (FSLV) boasts more than 250 shops and 30 restaurants spread over 2 million sq ft. It features loads of US American favourites like Nordstrom, Forever 21, Saks Fifth Avenue and Sephora as well as excellent dining options from sit-down restaurants like Brazilian Steakhouse to casual fast-food joints like Johnny Rockets.
FSLV also features a range of fantastic art installations throughout the mall, showcasing works from local, national and international artists. Take some time to meander both inside and outside and gaze upon this amazing collection of sculptures, murals and paintings while you shop.
Town Square Las Vegas
Town Square Las Vegas is a little further past The Strip, about a mile and a half south of Mandalay Bay, but it’s worth the taxi journey. This open-air mall has a quieter, old-town feel with a beautifully lit winding road through its shops, parks and water features and a mix of different architectural styles across its buildings – not too dissimilar to the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street USA!
There are plenty of shops to browse, as well as a varied range of restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs to enjoy a quick pitstop. Kids can play in the interactive water feature and the play park, which includes slides, climbing cubes and trampolines. It’s a place for the whole family to enjoy some downtime, especially in the evenings when it’s cooler.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
It’s easy to forget that Las Vegas is situated in the wilderness when amidst its frenetic energy, but half an hour’s drive west of the city takes you to the inspiring Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, which covers more than 300 square miles in the Mojave Desert. Multi-centre holidays in Las Vegas wouldn’t be complete without a trip out to see some of the beautiful mountains and canyons that encircle the city.
If stamina (and weather) allows, take a hike or mountain bike ride on one of its 26 trails, or take it easy on the scenic one-way 13-mile drive and absorb this geological beauty of incredible rock formations, sandstone cliffs and interesting colours. You can also explore the canyon on horseback or try your hand at rock climbing, enjoy a picnic or observe the wildlife on this blissful day trip!
Grand Canyon
The name says it all. If you think Red Rock Canyon sounds huge, then the epic Grand Canyon will blow your socks off. Situated across the border in Arizona, Grand Canyon National Park is about 2 and a half hours’ drive from Las Vegas, but many travellers splash out and take an unforgettable helicopter tour over this unrivalled natural wonder.
With its dramatically steep sides carved out over millions of years by the immense Colorado River, the Grand Canyon is a must-visit attraction on multi-centre holidays in western USA. Once you pick your jaw up off the floor, explore parts of the park by walking, cycling, river rafting, riding a mule, driving or taking the Grand Canyon Railway. And don’t forget the incredible Grand Canyon Skywalk with 4,000-feet-deep views through its glass floor!
Springs Preserve
The 180-acre Springs Preserve is the self-proclaimed ‘Birthplace of Las Vegas’ sits just 3 miles from the glitziness of The Strip but feels worlds apart, with its many tranquil acres of lush botanical gardens, trails and pathways that are home to 250 species of native Nevada wildlife.
Meander through the lovely Butterfly Habitat and wander the gardens via trail loops and train rides, while indoors, the wonderful Origen Museum boasts excellent exhibits and live animals such as lizards and tortoises. Within the preserve is also the Nevada State Museum, bringing the history of Las Vegas to life, educating visitors on the Hoover Dam, the atomic testing area and much more.
Clark County Wetlands Park
For another slice of respite from the city, consider heading to the 2,900-acre Clark County Wetlands Park, less than half an hour’s drive from Las Vegas, offering a serene spot with activities for all ages. There are miles of walking and cycling trails, as well as loads of opportunities for viewing wildlife, taking photos and absorbing this beautiful natural environment.
The park serves as a place to entertain and educate visitors, particularly on the environmental impact of humans on the desert and its ecosystem. The Visitor Center is a great place to begin, where you can talk with local experts and find out info on the flora and fauna in the park’s 210-acre Nature Preserve. Kids will also love the desert-themed play area as a chance to let off steam!
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
It’s hard to believe that such a bustling Vegas resort hotel would feature an area quite so serene, but the Bellagio’s 14,00 sq ft Botanical Gardens does exactly that and is well worth a visit for a moment of zen. Its talented team of horticulturalists and engineers transform this beautiful space with colours, scents and sounds to create a truly magnificent sight.
There are sections for each season using different themes, as well as regularly changing installations for holidays like Christmas and the Lunar New Year. Intricate flower displays are drenched in vivid shades and fashioned into impressive shapes together with water features and walkways, you’ll momentarily feel as if you’re in an enchanted forest.
Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace
America knows how to do a buffet; the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace is the largest in Las Vegas and deemed to be the world’s best. Spanning more than 25,000 sq ft, this incredible restaurant features 10 kitchens, 9 live cooking stations and over 250 menu items from around the globe, offering unlimited flavour and meal combinations to suit your mood.
Dine out on classics like slow-cooked prime ribs, wood-fired pizzas and smoked beef brisket, or try something new such as Korean fried chicken or grilled kimchi oysters. Multiple serving stations include seafood, pasta and risotto, 3 meat-carving stations, a ceviche bar, and one for freshly mixed smoothies, and omelettes, pancakes and waffles. Do your stomach a favour and pay a visit to this food paradise!
Skyfall Lounge
Located on the 64th floor of the Delano Las Vegas, the award-winning Skyfall Lounge flaunts out-of-this-world panoramic views of the city alongside an equally impressive cocktail menu. Head on up for a night of fun and you may even see a celebrity or two hanging out at this well-known hotspot.
As its name suggests, Skyfall is a subtly styled James Bond-themed lounge with mid-century décor and very cool vibes, effortlessly mixing modern and retro in one great space. Like many Vegas bars, they get rather busy, so a handy tip is to order the bottle service where they bring spirits of your choice, together with relevant mixers so you can mix your own at the table without having to wait!
Peppermill
The long-standing Peppermill’s Fireside Lounge has been delighting tourists visiting The Strip for more than 40 years and is a must-visit spot for an evening out on any Las Vegas multi-centre holiday. Its cosy firepit seating offers an inviting vibe reminiscent of old-school Vegas, while the cocktails are second to none. Dare to try their famous ‘Scorpion’, which comprises 64 ounces of vodka, rum, brandy, vanilla ice cream, orange juice, and a splash of grenadine in a huge bowl for two – it’s a real stinger!
The accompanying Peppermill Restaurant is also a popular joint for its epic club breakfasts, pancakes, waffles, burgers and sandwiches if you get peckish as it’s open 24 hours a day.
Mr. Mamas
Breakfast and brunch are a big deal in Las Vegas, with countless eateries located in hotels, along The Strip and Downtown serving up some truly epic meals to start the day right. Mr. Mamas is a consistently popular choice – particularly with families – that is set slightly further away from The Strip, with a hearty menu of omelettes, French toast, pancakes, burritos, sandwiches and wraps, and burgers.
Priding itself on its fantastic service, good quality food and brilliant, family-friendly atmosphere, Mr. Mamas is a great choice for anyone who wants a classic American-style breakfast on their Las Vegas twin-centre holidays.
Las Vegas FAQs
Las Vegas FAQs
Las Vegas FAQs
Considering Las Vegas is positioned in the desert, it gets pretty warm here all-year-round. The summer months bring scorching hot, very dry weather so you may be dipping in and out of pools and air-conditioned spaces during your stay.
Spring and autumn are slightly cooler and much more comfortable, averaging between about 20°C and 28°C. Winter is still sunny and pleasant – after all, you’re still in the desert – but make sure you book a hotel with a heated pool to fully enjoy that sunshine!
Las Vegas is 8 hours behind the UK. There are frequent nonstop flights from London to Las Vegas that usually take between 10 and 11 hours, most depart late afternoon, meaning you will arrive in the early evening Vegas time. The return leg leaves in the evening so you can sleep on the plane and arrive semi-refreshed the next morning back to the UK.
Las Vegas works wonderfully with many USA and Caribbean destinations as a multi-centre holiday, adding a little pizazz to a city break, a beach retreat or a theme park holiday. Its proximity to California means that Las Vegas is the perfect addition to an epic ‘Golden Triangle’ road trip, which takes in some of the USA’s most incredible destinations like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Yosemite and Death Valley.
If your Las Vegas multi-centre holiday includes driving across parts of Western USA, then hiring a car is a must. When in Vegas itself, you may want to have a car handy to get around, but many attractions on The Strip are close enough to walk to and taxis are very easy to come by. Tours venturing out of the city often include transportation, so it is not always necessary to have your own car.
