Thinking about choosing a Cruise & Stay holiday
? Our guide will tell you all you need to know about a Cruise & Stay holiday, as well as answering some important FAQs.
Why choose a Cruise & Stay holiday?
Cruise & Stay holidays offer great flexibility so you can enjoy the best of two amazing holidays rolled into one. The concept of a cruise and stay holiday is that it enables guests to spend a week or two exploring all that Florida has to offer, before stepping aboard a luxury cruise for a week of rest and relaxation.
For example, combining a Caribbean cruise with the Orlando Disney World theme parks is an enticing option where you can enjoy the charming and laid back island lifestyle after an exhausting week at Florida’s star attractions.
Which Cruise & Stay routes are available?
In addition to our Disney and Caribbean cruise package, another of our most popular Cruise & Stay routes is along the two coastlines on either side of mainland Florida. On the east coast you may opt to stay in the bustling city of Miami for a few nights in an exclusive Art Deco inspired hotel, before heading south to the stunning Florida Keys.
Alternatively, on the west coast, the calm waters of the Gulf of Mexico provide the ideal conditions for cruises along the Gulf Coast, typically from St Petersburg in the south towards Clearwater further up the coast, or vice versa.
Ocean Florida can package incredible cruise and stay holidays with world-renowned brands such as Carnival, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean Cruises, so you can enjoy a superb Florida hotel or villa as well as an unforgettable cruise in one special holiday.
How to manage the cost of a Cruise & Stay holiday
One of the reservations you may have about a cruise and stay holiday is the cost - but there’s no need to worry! Contrary to popular belief, cruises do not have to be super expensive. In fact, Ocean Florida can tailor your Cruise & Stay holiday to find the right route, accommodation, cruise operator and most importantly price, to suit any budget.
When looking into the cost of a Cruise & Stay holiday package, it’s important to remember exactly what you’re getting for your money. The price of the cruise includes the cost of your accommodation, onboard activities, evening entertainment and all of your meals, as well as luxury travel between your destinations.
General Cruise Etiquette
Whilst on your cruise, there are a few unwritten rules that you should take into consideration to ensure that all passengers can enjoy their time on board.
When dining in the restaurants, please be mindful of other passengers in considering your fashion choice for the evening. There may be more specific dress codes for different restaurants but as a general rule, stay covered up for dinner and dress reasonably smartly.
When moving around the ship, whether it be early in the morning to catch the first glimpse of sunrise, or late into the night after an evening of socialising in the bar, please be considerate of other passengers sleeping and remember to not slam your cabin door.
What activities are available on board?
There are heaps of activities onboard to keep you entertained throughout the day and evening. Whether it be poolside games and water slides, or evening entertainment such as singers, comedians or performers, you can get involved in as much or as little as you like.
Most cruise lines also have a casinos and spas onboard, as well as shopping outlets, so there really is something for everyone.
What accommodation is available?
There are various cabin options available on board the cruise ship depending on your budget and requirements. Choose a room with a view and a balcony, a deluxe luxury cabin, or a more budget-friendly standard cabin to suit your and your fellow passengers’ needs.
Whilst on dry land, Ocean Florida have a number of beautiful villas and hotels available across multiple Florida destinations. Choose from a range of exclusive Florida hotels or kick back and relax in one of Ocean Florida’s superb villas; your very own home from home.
What if I get seasick?
Due to varying weather conditions, the sea can be rough. The crew and captain are well-equipped to deal with this so you’re in very safe hands. Modern cruise liners are also fitted with stabilisers which prevent big waves from rocking the ship too much, so this should significantly reduce the risk of seasickness.
However, if you do begin to feel a little queasy, you should seek advice from a crew member who will be able to offer advice and assist you.
Will I be able to get online?
Whether it’s keeping in touch with work, or sharing Instagram snaps with your friends of the amazing views from the top deck, many of us will want to stay connected while on board. Luckily this should not be a problem, with the vast majority of cruise liners having wifi available on board.
However, it’s important to bear in mind, that although you will be able to access a wifi connection, it may not always be the most reliable, especially as you get further and further out to see.
Another thing to consider is that having internet on board does cost, so always check the prices before hopping online.
