If you’re a fan of the great outdoors, you’ll love the offerings here at Captiva Island. Often referred to as the smaller sister island to Sanibel, Captiva boasts beaches, outdoor activities, and off-island excursions, all of which are suitable for the family. Head to Turner Beach and collect pretty pastel shells. Sat on the southwestern tip of the island, the beach offers beautiful white sands, gentle waves, and dozens of colourful shells. Visitors can collect any shells they wish, as long as the shell remains free of live sea creatures.
Away from the beach, there’s plenty more to see and do. Hike or bike along one of the coastal trails, keeping a look out for one of the many species of birds and mammals. Go on a sailing adventure and come face-to-face with Florida’s marine life. With a short boat ride, you’ll also reach yet another of Florida’s hotspots, with Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples all just a few minutes away.
