Visit Manatee Park, Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva Island
- See Florida manatees up close
- Kayak into the manatee refuge
- Other activities available including fishing and educational programmes
Imagine a place where you can get up close to some of the most amazing creatures of the deep blue sea. Well, in Fort Myers something like that definitely exists, since you can visit the Manatee Park. Open all week round from 7am until dusk, the park lets you see these gorgeous animals in a way like no other, letting you gather around a non-captive water refuge where manatees can live their lives to the fullest.
Although they are not guaranteed to be seen upon every visit, you can enjoy reassurance that they’re in an excellent home where animal lovers can view them as they can come and go as they please. However, optimum viewing months are from late December to February time when the Gulf of Mexico is approximately 68F. What’s even better? You can rent a kayak and paddle out into the refuge, meaning you can get as close to the manatees as sailing in the water they live in.
