Just a hop, skip and jump from Walt Disney World® Resort lies an endearing town called Celebration. We’ve pulled together some reasons why we think you should visit on your next trip to Central Florida.

Created by Walt Disney

The story of Celebration is a unique one. It’s a community that was crafted and designed by the Walt Disney Company in the mid-1990s. Walt Disney had a vision to develop his own community back in the 1950s and since then, his ideas have been realised. Taking influence from various historical American cities, like New Orleans, Savannah and Charlestown, the traditional town is architecturally wonderful, borrowing the best bits from each city. Think houses with white picket fences and a brick-lined promenade which circles a picturesque lake. The town is now owned and managed by Kissimmee, but it definitely still has the magical Disney touch.

Great for shopping and dining

Downtown Celebration is the hub for shopping and dining and has the finest selection of boutiques and restaurants. Market Street has the most shops but the whole of downtown is worth an afternoon stroll.

The most novel shop is the bakery for dogs, Woof Gang Bakery, which stocks tasty treats for pampered pooches. You’ll also find clothing boutiques for all the family and Market Street Gallery which sells gifts, jewellery and homeware, it even has a year-round Christmas room. Mid-shopping spree, stop for cake in the old-fashioned bakery, Sweet Escape Bakery & Deli or dine on Thai, Mediterranean or traditional American cuisines, all within walking distance of each other.

Close to Walt Disney World Resort

As Celebration is the brainchild of the Walt Disney Company, the town was built just 7-miles from the world-famous resort. It’s only a 10-minute drive from Market Street in downtown to the gates of Disney, making it the perfect place to stay when visiting the parks. What make’s the location even more convenient is there’s a direct route via World Drive, to and from Celebration.

Large selection of hotels

As mentioned above, staying in Celebration is a great option when visiting Walt Disney World® Resort, as well as other theme parks in the area. The area has a number of hotels and resorts, but we recommend Melia Orlando Suite Hotel at Celebration for its Miami South Beach vibes. The hotel has one and two-bedroom suites, boasts a 360°C infinity pool and a Jacuzzi.

See the website to find out more about the hotel.

World-famous golf courses

Kissimmee is known for its golf and Celebration doesn’t disappoint. The Celebration Golf Club has courses designed by the renowned masters, Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior. This premier golf facility is almost like a park, there’s lush vegetation with topography and rolling hills. You’ll also find a shop, restaurant and an academy should you need to brush up on your golf skills.
