One of the most iconic cocktails around, the Martini has been on drinks menus since the early 20
th century and there aren’t any signs that it’s going out of fashion. Proof of this is
#NationalMartiniDay, which celebrates this suave cocktail, and it’s also a very good excuse to order one.
We’ve done all of the hard work and slurped through many martinis in Orlando (someone’s got to do it), to give you the lowdown of the best places to try, drink and enjoy America’s classic cocktail.
1. Tommy Bahama – Best Florida twist
When in Florida, most would agree that you have to try the Key Lime Pie.
Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar combines this iconic dessert with the crisp Martini. Made with the Ke Ke Beach Key Lime Cream Liqueur and finished with Graham Cracker crumbs, expect a tangy and vibrant drink which will go down rather nicely.
2. Blue Martini – Best for choice
Discerning martini drinks and novices alike will find plenty of choice on the menu at the
Blue Martini. As the name suggests, they specialise in the sophisticated cocktail and with 42 different options, you may have trouble just picking one.
We suggest starting off with a Pomegranate which is made with Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka, Bols Pomegranate Liqueur, Cranberry and Soda in a Pomegranate Sugar Rimmed Glass.
3. Boathouse Disney Springs - Best location
Located in Disney Springs, the
Boathouse sits by the lake and offers stunning views of the water. The old-fashioned nautical-themed interior takes you back to another era and the chilled out atmosphere is the perfect place to sip on cocktails in the sun.
The Lemon Drop Martini, on their cocktail specialties menu, is sweet and crisp; it contains the Stoli Citrus, Deep Eddy Vodka, Cointreau, Lemon, Sweet and Sour, Rock Candy, Swizzle Stick.
4. Bahama Breeze – Best for signature twists
Head to the
Bahama Breeze for a Caribbean-inspired Martini. As you can imagine, vodka has been replaced with rum and there’s copious amounts of coconut and pineapple. The best bit is the garnish, rum infused pineapple which adds to the island-vibe of the cocktail.
5. The Palm – Best for 007
You can’t beat a classic, and the Vesper, served at
The Palm, is the one that James Bond drinks. Limit yourself to just one, it’s pretty powerful yet something every sophisticated 007 fan should try. Located in the Hard Rock Hotel at the Universal Orlando Resort, the bar will make all special agents feel at home.
