You needn’t travel out of the way to get to this pretty State Park in Greater Fort Lauderdale. Just across the street from the beach, the vast forest offers a very different landscape in which to explore and discover. Full of beautiful botanicals and Floridian wildlife, you’ll certainly enjoy a hike around here. But with acres upon acres to explore, a bike ride is definitely the best option for making the most of what’s on offer.
Bikers and hikers will have two routes to choose from at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. There’s the Beach Hammock Trail, bursting with sea grapes, gumbo limbo, and other attractive plants and trees, or the Exotic Trail, which as expected, boasts a whole range of colour. When you’re done with your bike, why not rent a canoe and take a trip down the mile-long freshwater lagoon?
With picnic areas aplenty here too, and the beach just across the way, don’t forget to pack a light lunch!
