Nature Track is a nonprofit organisation committed to making the outdoors accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. At the heart of NatureTrack’s accessibility efforts is Freedom Trax, a revolutionary, motorised device that transforms manual wheelchairs into all-terrain vehicles. With Freedom Trax, users can independently navigate beaches, trails, and rugged landscapes that were previously out of reach. NatureTrack provides Freedom Trax units free of charge to individuals in Santa Barbara.

To borrow a Freedom Trax unit, you must be at least 18 and use a manual wheelchair (not powered). You’ll need to provide wheelchair measurements (ground to lowest point between push wheels and width between inside edges), plus details about where you’ll use it (park name or terrain type). Units can be picked up at a NatureTrack location or delivered to your address. You must give exact pickup/return dates and times, and NatureTrack can also collect the unit after use. Requests require completing the online application form on NatureTrack’s website.
