Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, offers stunning coastal wilderness, rich Indigenous culture, and diverse outdoor activities. The park reserve includes three main areas:
Long Beach is the most accessible area, popular for its vast sandy beaches, temperate rainforests, and surfing. It's a year-round destination between Tofino and Ucluelet, known for whale watching, especially in spring and autumn.
Broken Group Islands comprises a secluded cluster of over 100 islands, ideal for kayaking and island camping, reachable only by boat. It’s rich in marine life like sea lions and seabirds.
West Coast Trail is a challenging 75-kilometre backpacking route along a rugged coastline. Open May to September, it requires permits and takes about a week to complete.
The park is in the traditional territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth people, whose history can be explored at the Kwisitis Visitor Centre in Long Beach.
