The Golden Circle Tour, Reykjavik

Iceland is known for its incredible scenery, it’s one of the only places in Europe where you can see glaciers and volcanoes, all on one island.

The Golden Triangle gives you a taster of some of the stunning scenery which can be found throughout Iceland, and there’s a lot. With a population of only 330,000 and the majority of people based in Reykjavik, there’s a lot of the country which is unspoilt.

Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir and Strokkur hot springs are just some of the places you can see on this incredible trip. You’ll be driven to each destination on a coach and will have an English-speaking tour guide so you can ask them as many questions as you wish.

The tour starts at Thingvellir National Park, around 25 miles from Reykjavik. The park is a UNESCO world heritage site, home to Iceland’s largest natural lake and where the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia meet. The area was once at the centre of a bloody Viking commonwealth and it was the place where Iceland was declared a republic and separated from Denmark in 1944.

Next, you’ll drive to Gullfoss Waterfall where you can get so close, you can feel the mist from water which flows down the narrow Hvítárgljúfur canyon. There is a chance to visit the café and grab something to eat before heading to see the mighty Geysir. 

On the last stop at Geysir, a geothermal area, you'll see bubbling mud pits, exploding geysers and the famous Strokkur hot spring which shoots steaming water up to 30 metres into the air every four to eight minutes. The area looks like something from another world and one you must certainly witness.

At the end of the tour, you’ll be driven back to the centre of Reykjavik and to one of the many hotel drop off points.
