Even in the Sunshine State, the sun doesn’t shine every day. However, a little rainy weather doesn’t have to derail your holiday plans. In fact, when it comes to wet weather days, SeaWorld Orlando is one of the best theme parks to visit. With a range of indoor attractions, animal habitats, and shows, you’ll find plenty of ways to stay entertained. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, teens, or a mix of ages, here’s our pick of the best rainy-day activities at Seaworld…

Expedition Odyssey

The all-new Expedition Odyssey is the world's first fully immersive arctic experience. Buckle up and prepare for a journey like no other, where you’ll soar over glaciers and come face to face with beluga whales, walruses, and polar bears. This next-generation simulator combines dynamic motion, state-of-the-art visuals, and real-world animal encounters that allow guests to truly move with the ocean currents. This indoor ride is also family-friendly with a height requirement of only 39 inches, helping to ensure no one misses out.

Rescue Tails

SeaWorld prides itself on being a vital part of animal welfare, having rescued over 42,000 injured, sick, and orphaned animals. At Rescue Tails, you can see the park’s success firsthand by meeting some of the animals saved. This interactive indoor exhibit offers an inside look into the rescue, rehabilitation, and release process, highlighting the dedication of SeaWorld’s animal care teams while providing an educational and heart-warming experience for all ages, inspiring guests to appreciate conservation efforts and the importance of protecting marine wildlife worldwide.

Visit Sesame Street Land

SeaWorld isn’t all about sea creatures. Take a trip down Sesame Street and encounter the likes of Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, and of course, the iconic Elmo. If you’re travelling with young children, they will love the interactive elements around every corner, from creating their own monster to helping Cookie Monster and Gonger whip up some foodie delights. And there’s plenty more fun to be had at the award-winning Sesame Street Parade, where all your favourite furry friends come together.

Shark Encounter

Sharks often get a bad rep, but at SeaWorld, you can discover the softer side to these infamous creatures. Shark Encounter is one of the largest underwater viewing tunnels, where several shark species can be observed. Plus, with educational boards along the way, you can all learn a thing or two about these prehistoric animals. You can go even further with an Up-Close Tour, where you can explore the shark habitat, touch a baby shark, and discover more about their care. This unforgettable experience helps change perceptions, encouraging respect, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of sharks and their vital role in the ecosystem.

Dolphin Cove

For ultimate relaxation on a stormy day, head to the underwater viewing area at Dolphin Cove. This covered spot gives you a 180-degree view of majestic bottlenose dolphins as they glide peacefully around you. Watching the dolphins in this calm setting is both soothing and captivating, making it an ideal escape from the rain. You can also pay for the added experience, Dolphin Encounter, that allows you to touch, feed, and swim with these majestic mammals. As one of the largest interactive dolphin pools in the world, this is one of our favourites, and a must for families visiting SeaWorld

SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep

Be the first in line for SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep. Opening in 2026, it follows the success of Expedition Odyssey and will be taking guests on a stunning underwater adventure without getting a drop of water on you. Using state-of the-art technology, guests will navigate the fascinating world below the surface on a suspended dark ride. Sail through dazzling ecosystems and come face to face with legendary sea life in a journey like no other.

Manta Aquarium

While the Manta coaster itself is weather-dependent, the Manta Aquarium is entirely indoors and well worth a visit on rainy days. Here, you can observe manta rays gliding gracefully through the water, along with a variety of other fish species. Floor-to-ceiling windows make this a peaceful and informative stop, offering a fascinating insight into manta rays, their behaviours, and the conservation efforts in place to protect them.

Jewel of the Sea Aquarium

Jewel of the Sea Aquarium offers a calm and captivating escape from the hustle and bustle of the park. Inside, guests can admire a variety of fascinating marine life, including baby sharks, graceful rays, delicate jellyfish, and schools of vibrant tropical fish. The peaceful setting makes it an ideal spot to slow down, take in the details, and enjoy a quiet moment of discovery, which is especially welcome on busy or rainy days. Informative exhibits also provide insight into the species on display, adding an educational element that makes this tranquil aquarium well worth a visit.

Sharks Underwater Grill and Bar

A downpour is often a great time to fit in lunch. However, at Sharks Underwater Grill and Bar, you’re treated to so much more than food. This signature restaurant features a stunning floor-to-ceiling aquarium where sharks, rays, and schools of fish glide past your table as you dine, creating an unforgettable underwater atmosphere. The menu focuses on fresh seafood alongside steak and other classic dishes, with a selection of wines and cocktails available at the bar. Whether you’re stopping by for a leisurely lunch or a relaxed evening meal, the calm setting and immersive views make Sharks Underwater Grill & Bar a memorable way to take a break from the weather while enjoying great food in truly spectacular surroundings.
