Orlando may be the ‘Theme Park Capital of the World’, but you could just as easily spend your entire holiday exploring world-class restaurants, which range from chic resort dining to classic, unfussy American takeout.

Chicken is at the core of Southern cooking, and nothing guarantees a taste sensation quite like chicken tenders right now.

This trendy treat is all the rave and is one thing that even the pickiest of children will eat.  So, we’ve rounded up the best chicken tenders in Orlando, in and outside of the theme parks, for a Florida family holiday that serves up something for everyone.

Chicken Tenders vs. Chicken Fingers

Firstly, let’s explain the difference between chicken tenders and chicken fingers. The terms are often used interchangeably, however, chicken tenders are usually larger and thicker than chicken fingers and are made from the most tender part of the chicken. Both can be breaded and fried or used in grilled or stir-fry dishes!

Disney Springs

Chicken Guy!

On your next Walt Disney World Resort holiday, make a beeline for the Town Center at Disney Springs and grab a table at celebrity chef Guy Fieri’s restaurant. The menu comprises a delectable range of chicken tenders with a huge choice of signature sauces like Chipotle Ranch, Garlic Parmesan, and Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ, as well as Big Bite Sandwiches, salads, sides, and kids’ meals.

Follow it up and wash down your meal with a refreshing soda or delicious hand-spun milkshake.

Universal Orlando Resort

Cletus’ Chicken Shack

Situated in the food court at Springfield U.S.A in Universal Studios Florida, fans of The Simpsons will appreciate this immersive, quick-service establishment and enjoy lunch or dinner for dining in or taking away. At Cletus’ you’ll find great hillbilly-style dishes such as the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich, Chicken Thumbs, and Double Batter Chicken Platters for a taste of Southern chicken classics.

Families on the go can also order food here using the Universal Orlando Resort App, which means quick and easy pick-up so you can get back to exploring the park!

Fire Eater’s Grill

Over in Universal Islands of Adventure, you can check out this popular food merchant located in Sindbad’s Bazaar in The Lost Continent. With a simple quick-service menu of chicken fingers, hot chicken stingers, grilled gyros, hot dogs, and salads, this casual on-the-go spot is great for stopping off and refuelling in-between rides and attractions after working up an appetite.

Just outside Lake Buena Vista, you’ll find one on the corner of Palm and Daryl Carter so make sure to pop in and try their incredible chicken fingers and signature dip, which is like a thousand island sauce but with a Cane’s twist.

Here, you can order classic Combo meals with soft drinks and crinkle-cut fries or epic Tailgates™ with up to 100 chicken fingers to feed large groups (or those who are super hungry)!

Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders

A firm favourite with both locals and tourists, Huey Magoo’s can be found at multiple locations in Central Florida, including the popular ChampionsGate. Its succulent chicken tender meals can be customised exactly how you want and come either grilled, hand-breaded or bite-sized and tossed in a selection of delicious sauces like Bleu Cheese, Lite Tuscan Italian, and the mouth-watering Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette.

The menu also includes a range of freshly made salads, wraps, sandwiches and sides, offering plenty of options for hungry families on the move.

Chi-Kin

For a touch of Asian flair with your chicken tenders, don’t miss the delectable Korean flavours at Chi-Kin, a popular joint located in the Mills/50 neighbourhood of Downtown Orlando. The restaurant’s fried chicken menu offers great meal options for both kids and adults, with a range of fiery sauces to smother your chicken in, including hot gochujang and sweet soy.

On the menu, you’ll also discover tasty additions like bulgogi beef fries, waffle fries, and kimchi. Chi-Kin Sammies are the restaurant’s signature dish, comprising a chicken tender sandwich with spicy aioli and pickles. And if you still have room for something sweet, grab a side of Fried D'oh Boys, little doughnut balls topped with whipped cream and condensed milk!

The excellent Chicken Fire shop has garnered a reputation for serving amazing Nashville-style hot chicken. Located just outside the Milk District in Downtown Orlando, Chicken Fire delivers its own tasty interpretation on chicken tenders in affordable box meals, with bold flavours and the option to customise the heat levels to suit your own palate, from the delicious mild seasoning of ‘Soulful’, to ‘Hot’, which will set your tastebuds on fire. Along International Drive, you’ll find one of the well-established Miller’s Ale House restaurants, a firm family favourite with locals and visitors since the original venue first opened its doors in Jupiter in 1988.

This lively sports bar and restaurant chain has been successful in no small part due to its wonderful take on the chicken tender, including its often copied but never replicated Zingers®, which comprise boneless, hand-breaded chicken tenders soaked in buttermilk and tossed in a sauce of your choosing. Honey mustard, classic BBQ, teriyaki, or flaming hot buffalo sauces feature on this mouth-watering menu!

And if you fancy a change from chicken, there’s also an array of options to dine on such as seafood and steak dishes, soups and salads, burgers, and pasta.
