Daytona Beach should be top of your list when deciding where to take your family on a holiday. Nicknamed 'the most famous beach in the world', it's known for having a whole host of exciting activities along the promenade, as well as in the city. You have NASCAR racing, water parks, shopping, world-class dining and a large array of hotels to spend your sun-soaked days. Bursting with all kinds of fun for kids, teens and adults, all in great measure, it's the ultimate family-friendly holiday destination.

Daytona Beach
Earning the nickname of the 'most famous beach in the world’, this shoreline spreads across 23-miles with its golden sands. Relax with a drink in hand to the views of the gorgeous Atlantic Coast and enjoy leisurely strolls down a seemingly endless beach paradise, soaking up Florida’s incredible heat. Make sure you stop along the promenade to take advantage of the legendary attractions which will keep all members of the family entertained for days.

Daytona Lagoon
Cool off from the heat with a trip to Daytona Lagoon. This water amusement park is bursting with family fun for your enjoyment. Shoot through waterslides, plunge down water raft rides or take a trip along the lazy river. Once dry, spend your time living it up in a fully decked amusement park with laser tag, mini golf and more in this excellent entertainment complex. Challenge each other at a game of skill at the Mega Arcade, race to the top of the wall with some rock climbing, or test your fear of heights at the Sky Maze. You can even race like a NASCAR driver on the go-karts.

Bundles of fun are to be had with a trip to Daytona Lagoon, as there’s no doubt that this place is a family favourite.

NASCAR

Daytona’s the home of the International Speedway, the best place to catch a show deeply rooted in Floridian culture, NASCAR racing. Check out hundreds of stock cars and motorcycles put the pedal to the metal in one of several races, with a different rendition of the track for each, including the Sports Car Course, The Motorcycle Course, or the smaller Short Oval Course. Come here around mid-February and you can catch the Daytona 500, the most prestigious of NASCAR events for the most thrilling experience in the sport.

Golf
In recent years Daytona has become increasingly popular for golfers. Lovers of the sport flock to Daytona to tee off on the city’s beautifully manicured fairways, some of the best on the east coast of Florida.

One of the notable clubs to visit is the LPGA International, the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s HQ. This club offers two championship level courses for you to test your swing on, as well as other great amenities like a swimming pool to cool off in and a gym if you want to make some gains between golf matches. After a long day on the courses, you can pull up a pew at Malcolm’s Bar & Grill overlooking the lawns, where you can enjoy succulent meals and quality cocktails in the comfort of a plush restaurant.

New Smyrna & Flagler Beach
If you want a change of scene from Daytona Beach but still want golden sands in tow, then you should certainly try out Smyrna and Flagler Beach. Both being cosy beach towns, you can expect a more local atmosphere.

New Smyrna Beach is a top spot for surfers, so if you want to catch some waves in the Daytona area then this is your destination. You can also enjoy unique boutique shopping and some wholesome and casual eateries to break up your relaxing day.

Flagler Beach has an old-school vibe with a small pier and wooden walkways which are perfect for fishing from, as well as a collection of shops and al fresco restaurants. The beach stretches just over six miles, offering plenty of space to set up your beach base. While you’re here, make sure you head to a rooftop café nearby and watch the Atlantic Ocean float away in front of you.
