Uncover the legacy of the USA’s Historic Cities as you begin your holiday in the capital of the USA. Your hotel awaits at Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/US Capitol, conveniently located 1 mile from Union Station, the departure point of multiple city tours. After checking in and taking a moment to freshen up in your comfortable accommodations, begin your exploration of Washington DC. 

Start your adventure with a walk to the National Mall, a sprawling green space that serves as the heart of American democracy. Here, you'll encounter the iconic Lincoln Memorial, where you can reflect on the 19-foot-tall statue of President Abraham Lincoln while appreciating the surrounding views of the Reflecting Pool and the Washington Monument in the distance.

On your second day in Washington DC, embark on the Big Bus Hop-On-Hop-Off Tour, a fantastic way to cover a lot of ground while enjoying the flexibility to explore at your own pace. After breakfast at the hotel, board the bus and head towards the Smithsonian Museums. You have a range of options, including the National Air and Space Museum, where you can marvel at historic aircraft and spacecraft, or the National Museum of American History, which showcases the nation’s rich cultural heritage. The National Museum of Natural History is another highlight, featuring incredible exhibits from dinosaur fossils to the Hope Diamond.

Once you’ve soaked in all the history and culture, hop back on the bus and make your way to the U.S. Capitol, where you can snap photos and learn about its importance in American government. Don't miss the stunning interiors of the Library of Congress, where the architecture alone is worth the visit, featuring intricate mosaics and ornate details. Your Philly adventure kicks off with the Old City Philadelphia History Tour. Famous for the Battle of Gettysburg, fought over three intense days in 1863, this site is steeped in rich Civil War history and was the bloodiest clash of the war. After a scenic two-hour drive, you’ll check into the Hilton Garden Inn Gettysburg, complete with an indoor pool, a whirlpool spa, and an inviting onsite restaurant. 

Take a moment to settle into your accommodations before heading to the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. Spend the afternoon learning about the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg, one of the most significant battles of the Civil War, through exhibits that include artefacts, photographs, and interactive displays. 

Treat yourself to dinner at The Dobbin House Tavern, an 18th-century restaurant that serves delicious meals in a historic setting. Dine by candlelight in beautifully decorated rooms that transport you back in time. After your meal, take a leisurely stroll through downtown Gettysburg, where quaint shops and cosy cafés beckon you to relax and soak in the serene atmosphere of this historic town.

After a restful night, hop on a horse-drawn carriage for a guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield. Feel the gentle sway of the carriage as you absorb the stunning landscape while a knowledgeable guide shares gripping stories about the monumental events that unfolded right where you sit. The slow pace offers a unique perspective on the fields and monuments that mark this significant chapter in American history.

Post-tour, head over to the Eisenhower National Historic Site, the former home and farm of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Here, you’ll gain insight into the life of the 34th president and the profound impact he had on American history. Passport & Visa

Prior to your journey to the USA, it is essential to ensure the validity of your passport for the entire duration of your stay. The majority of UK passport holders are required to obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) to gain entry into the USA. Failure to provide evidence of a valid ESTA may result in denied boarding, delayed processing, or refusal of admission to the United States.

It is strongly recommended to submit ESTA applications no later than 72 hours before the planned travel date. Early application is encouraged to pre-empt any unforeseen complications. Please be mindful that an application fee of approximately $21 per person is associated with the ESTA process.

Travel Documents

Your travel documents will be provided no later than two weeks before your scheduled departure. The specific timing is contingent on various factors, such as the airline and accommodation type. If your itinerary includes a villa stay, details about your villa will be dispatched to you within 1 to 5 days preceding your arrival.

Car Hire

To rent a car, please ensure you have a valid UK driving licence (valid for at least one year). Provide this along with the original licence to your car hire provider. The lead driver must also possess a valid credit card for a security pre-authorisation, as cash deposits are not accepted. While some accept debit cards, it's advisable to carry a credit card, as many rental companies prefer this method.

When making your reservation, you have the option to add a satellite navigation (sat nav) system to your car rental. If you possess a UK sat nav, it is advisable to ensure that its maps are updated to cover the United States before your journey. Alternatively, should the need arise, you can consider purchasing a sat nav locally within the USA.

Included Activities and Optional Activities

Your itinerary encompasses both included and optional activities. Included activities are fixed into the price of the package and are non-refundable. Optional activities are recommendations that are not included in the package price. The decision to partake in these activities is at the discretion of the traveller, with associated costs being the responsibility of the individual.

Travel Insurance

We strongly advise that every member of your travel group possesses sufficient travel insurance coverage. While we do not directly provide travel insurance, we are pleased to suggest two reputable providers offering comprehensive policies: Allianz Travel Insurance and Battleface Travel Insurance.

Payment

To secure your reservation, a deposit is payable, and the amount will depend on your package or travel arrangement. You will be advised of the deposit details during the booking process. The final balance for your booking must be settled 16 weeks before the scheduled departure. We offer our customers flexible payment plans that spread the distribution of costs through direct debit plans. Cancellation

Kindly note that cancellation charges are applicable and are also inclusive of our administration fee. The charges are determined by the number of weeks preceding your scheduled departure date.
