History of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
This Deluxe Hotel is set within an oasis of lush landscaping and shimmering lakes and was one of the two original hotels to open alongside the Magic Kingdom on 1st October 1971. Centred around the Great Ceremonial House, the Resort boasts a South Seas paradise feel with verdant foliage and Polynesian-style architecture throughout its longhouses and bungalows. And, more than fifty years on, this one-of-a-kind Resort is still as much loved by Disney fans as it was when it first opened.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, whether in person on arrival or online using the My Disney Experience App. Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at 11am. Online check-in allows you to bypass the front desk, and view your room status in real time with notifications, room numbers and instructions. You can also use your Disney Band to unlock your door and even access some of the hotel facilities early like the pools.
Room Options at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
There are about 850 accommodations at the ‘Poly’ – as it’s affectionately known to Disney aficionados – ranging from Duo Studios, Deluxe Studios, One- and Two-Bedroom Villas, and Bungalows with either Theme Park, Water or Resort Views. Each sleeps up to five adults in one king or two queen beds plus an additional day bed. They’ve got a kitchenette or kitchen for convenience, and the décor features nods to Moana and the Pacific Islands with wooden flooring and pops of colourful flora on the soft furnishings and wall art.
The Resort is currently undergoing a new expansion, which includes the newly opened Island Tower alongside the legacy Bungalows and Villas, and construction in other areas is set to continue throughout 2025 and 2026. The new building is part of the Disney Vacation Club timeshare programme, which is accessible to DVC members.

The Poly is wonderfully located to experience everything that
Walt Disney World Resort has to offer with a proximity to next-door Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, which is accessible via a pathway. The Resort is also positioned within walking distance of the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC), where you will find the transfer station to the EPCOT Monorail as well as the Magic Kingdom parking lot.
Dining and Entertainment at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
This Deluxe Resort offers loads of great dining options, and all but one of the restaurants are located at the Great Ceremonial House. The main eatery is ‘Ohana. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this family-friendly spot has a casual feel and is also a place where you can book character breakfasts for the little ones. Adjacent to it is the Tambu Lounge, which provides a lively spot for a pre-dinner drink while you wait for your table.
If the grown-ups want to keep the night going after dinner, head for Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and grab a cocktail or beer at this tropical-themed watering hole. Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is a vibrant outdoor venue overlooking the lake with live music and a great atmosphere too.
Several more restaurants, cafés, and pool bars add to the choices at the Poly, so you can dine on South Pacific flavours, Asian-inspired dishes, and classic American fare as and when you wish.
Lazy days in and around the Resort can be spent in one of the expansive pools available for guests. The Lava Pool features a volcano, water slide, and large deck. The Oasis Pool offers a tranquil vibe, and the zero-entry Cove Pool and Moana’s Voyage splash area mean the youngest members of your group can splash away happily in the sun.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is well located on the southern side of the Seven Seas Lagoon and offers access to the adjacent Magic Kingdom via water taxi. The Resort is also one of the stops on the Resort Monorail loop, which also visits the Magic Kingdom,
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, making it easy to travel between parks and hotels.
The Disney shuttle bus service also connects the Resort with

Rumours were flying that the beloved Poly would be torn down, but in fact the Resort is currently undergoing a major new expansion that will continue throughout 2025 and 2026. The brand-new Island Tower was completed and opened in December 2024, meaning that there are new rooms, dining options, a fitness centre, pool, and splash pad to enjoy!
