The Emerald Coast and Florida’s Panhandle are some of the most underrated, yet no less beautiful areas in all the state. Referring to the north-west region of Florida, this is where elements of the Sunshine State meet the Deep South. Here you can enjoy the fruits of over 20 beautiful towns, both inland and by the sea, each one teeming with beauty. Spanning 200 miles from Pensacola to Tallahassee, you’ll enjoy oak lined roads, sugar-white sands and the turquoise waters of the Emerald Coast.

Ocean Florida offers an array of unique hotels across the Panhandle, including the Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort or the Laketown Wharf Resort boasting sun-soaked swimming pools and family friendly entertainment galore. As much as you may be swayed by mainstream Florida destinations like Orlando or Miami, the Panhandle and Emerald Coast will leave you spoilt for choice.

Pensacola
Just over an hour from the Mississippi border is the beach town of Pensacola, the westernmost city in the Sunshine State. A great example of how north-west Florida is just as beautiful as any other destinations in the state, this place is brimming with everything you need from a beachside holiday including gorgeous ocean views of the Mexican Gulf, cultural amenities like the Colonial Archaeological Trail, and even the Lost Key Golf Club, which was designed by golfing legend Arnold Palmer. Why not even take off in an aviation simulator at the National Aviation Museum? It’ll no doubt send you flying.

Gulf Breeze
Grab your snorkel gear and check out the incredible reefs of this beautiful beach. The area is excellent for seeing everything beneath the tide, thanks to the crystal-clear, turquoise waters. Spend an afternoon exploring the Gulf Islands National Seashore where you can see the unbelievable coral reefs. Here, you can also bird watch or hike, taking in the serene nature as you go. Animal lovers will enjoy the Gulf Breeze Zoo. Make friends with gorillas, giant tortoises, squirrel monkeys and alligators, either up-close and personally or from a raised boardwalk overlooking herds of wildebeests, ostriches and chimps.

Panama City Beach
Packed full of some of the most fun activities to have ever graced a beach, Panama City Beach will have you smitten with the great attractions that are around this gorgeous area. Why not take the go-karts for a spin, or throw yourself down one of the water slides? Or perhaps challenge the family to some Goofy Golf? There is even the Gulf World Marine Park and ZooWorld for a more educational pass time. The waters are crystal clear, and the beach is golden, so why wouldn’t you want to come and holiday in this exciting beach destination?

Fort Walton
Fort Walton is a beautiful beach town on the Emerald Coast boasting tons of fun, thanks to the numerous activities scattered around the destination. Families will have a ball at the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, see dancing dolphins and make friends with the marine life, or visit Okaloosa Island just opposite the beach.

Also, if you’ve got an interest in war memorabilia then Air Force Armament Museum showcases a history of military aviation from WWII bombers to modern jets. With a Science and Indian Temple Museum also, you’ll have a blast at Fort Walton as there are plenty of attractions for all the family to enjoy.
