Orlando Highlights
Orlando is world-famous for its family-friendly attractions, not to mention a certain big-eared mouse! From lively theme parks to glorious natural environments and fantastic dining and shopping experiences to out-of-this world entertainment, Orlando delivers an unforgettable holiday for every member of the family.
Theme Parks
Orlando is the proud home of two of the world’s biggest theme park resorts: Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, as well as many thrilling entertainment attractions and water parks. Charming millions of visitors each year to Florida, the parks are constantly evolving with new, state-of-the-art rides and experiences to wow and delight visitors young and old.
World-Class Shopping
For many, boutique and outlet shopping trips make up a huge portion of Orlando holidays, and whether you’re planning on taking advantage of incredible discounts like in the infamous Black Friday Sales, or you’re simply looking to add to your Disney souvenir collection, your retail needs will be satisfied beyond measure!
Excellent Dining
There are thousands of places to eat and drink in Orlando, so you can dine somewhere different every time you get hungry. The parks and resorts are filled with marvellous themed eateries to try from cool and casual to Michelin-starred fine dining, while the range of restaurants on offer in the popular tourist areas and shopping malls is second to none.
The Great Outdoors
Despite the chaos of the city, there are many opportunities to get back to nature and escape the throngs of tourists. Head outwards from Downtown Orlando and admire crystalline spring waters, miles and miles of nature trails, an abundance of native wildlife and discover the Floridians’ deep commitment to the protection of the natural world.
Florida Keys Highlights
The Florida Keys offer an altogether more chilled out vibe in comparison to the rip-roaring rides of Orlando, with pretty beachside towns edged by extraordinary coral reefs, there’s a new side of Florida to explore as you dive into a more Caribbean way of life.
Nature & Wildlife
Abundant with natural habitats including inland wetlands, forests and shorelines, the Florida Keys are loaded with an impressive array of wildlife, from alligators to wading birds and everything in between. Visit one of the many eco centres dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of Florida’s unique animal and plant life for a glimpse into this beautiful natural world.
Beaches
From the wide sandy expanses of Florida’s State and National Parks to the hidden gems tucked away along the coastline, the beaches in the Keys are exceptional. Make the most of the region’s year-round warm climate and spend your days swimming, sunbathing, collecting shells and enjoying quality family time in this tropical paradise.
Diving & Snorkelling
The Florida Keys present hundreds of incredible reef sites and wrecks to explore up and down its beautiful islands, with Key Largo as the self-proclaimed Dive Capital of the World. Ultra-clear waters and calm conditions mean you can literally dive in and discover these protected underwater oases, which are teeming with colourful fish, crustaceans, turtles and sharks.
Seafood
Edged by the Gulf of Mexico to one side and the Atlantic Ocean to the other, it’s no surprise that this chain of islands is renowned for its delectable seafood, but you must try it to believe it. Indulge in succulent lobster and crab delicacies, melt-in-the-mouth fish dishes and some of the sweetest shrimp you’ll ever eat.

Orlando & Florida Keys Holiday FAQs
Orlando & Florida Keys Holiday FAQs
Orlando & Florida Keys Holiday FAQs
For the best weather for riding rollercoasters and relaxing, winter is the perfect time for your Orlando and Florida Keys twin-centre holidays. Between December and March, temperatures will have cooled in Orlando, but rarely drop below a pleasant 22°C, making it the perfect temperature for running around theme parks. You’ll also miss the hurricane season, which runs from 1st June through to 30th November.
It’s a similar story in the Florida Keys; visit towards the end of November to catch the end of the low season, which sees more wallet-friendly prices. Temperatures vary slightly depending where in the Keys you are, with November highs of 25°C in Key Largo to the north of the islands and 26°C in Key West in the south.
Both Orlando and the Florida Keys are generally 5 hours behind the UK, observing Eastern Standard Time (EST). However, if you’re travelling in March or November, look out for when their time zone changes to Eastern Daylight Saving Time, as US clocks go forward or backward an hour on different Sundays than in the UK.
The primary airport for UK tourists is Orlando International Airport (MCO), with direct flights from London Gatwick (LGW), London Heathrow (LHR), and Manchester Airport (MAN) taking around 9 hours 30 minutes.
In the Florida Keys, major airports include Key West International Airport (EYW) but there is also the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport (MTH) for an alternative flight route via Miami or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Need flight advice for your Orlando and Florida Keys twin-centre holiday? Just ask our USA experts.
Yes, you can! Either drive the full route, which takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes (295 miles) or fly from Orlando to Miami and start your road trip from there. When you reach Key Largo, you’ll be driving on the famous Overseas Highway – a 113-mile highway from Key Largo to Key West, with unforgettable views of the coral and limestone islands of the Keys. We think this route should be on every traveller’s bucket list; a great way to experience a multi-centre holiday to Orlando and Florida Keys!
We are proud to offer guaranteed prices up to 36 months ahead of your twin-centre holiday. You can secure your perfect package with an initial low deposit today and pay the remainder of your holiday in monthly instalments.
Picturing yourself wearing shorts and t-shirts as you explore Orlando and the Florida Keys? You’re not far off! With year-round temperate climates in both destinations, you’ll want to prepare for the heat. But don’t forget the rainy season runs from May to October in Miami and June to October in the Florida Keys; if you’re visiting then, don’t forget your waterproofs!
We also recommend packing a jumper or light jacket for cooler winter evenings, as temperatures can drop to 15°C at night in Orlando. If you’re planning to take advantage of Florida’s amazing hiking routes, comfy walking shoes are also a great idea.
On every Orlando adventure, our favourite thing to do is get our pulses racing with a day (or several!) at the city’s iconic theme parks!
Check out Walt Disney World’s first-ever reverse coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, in Epcot or head to the Magic Kingdom to experience the classic attractions, musical parades, fireworks, and more.
Or enjoy the 70-miles-per-hour speeds of the VelociCoaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure — another of Orlando’s newest and most exciting theme park rides. While at Universal, you can also step into the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ or channel your inner superhero on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man®.
SeaWorld Orlando Resort is also well worth a visit (we recommend the first-of-its-kind Pipeline: The Surf Coaster), as well as newer additions to the area like LEGOLAND.
Can’t decide which theme parks your family should visit while you’re in town? Our team will be only too happy to help craft a bespoke theme park itinerary. Or why not plan a visit to only Orlando? You can view all our Orlando twin-centres here.
Yes, you can book your Disney tickets in advance — and we recommend you do. Not only will you save some pennies, but you’ll also enjoy some extra-special benefits, like visiting multiple theme parks on the same day with Park Hopper or receiving unlimited downloads of your family photos with Memory Maker, both with a 14-Day Magic Ticket.
You may be picturing natural beachscapes for your tropical Florida Keys getaway, but the islands are better for their boating, snorkelling, and diving rather than sinking your toes into the sand. That said, there are still a few spots on the islands where you can get your beach fix; here are a few of our favourites.
Smathers Beach is the biggest public beach in Key West and is one of the Key’s most popular. Relax on the sands or enjoy a huge array of watersports, including kayaking and windsurfing.
If you’re visiting the middle Keys, head to Sombrero Beach in Marathon; with its swaying palms and crystal-clear aquamarine waters, this is the Florida Keys beach you’ve been dreaming of.
For somewhere off the beaten path (and for a trip you won’t forget), visit the Dry Tortugas National Park, which is only accessible by ferry or seaplane. Here, you’ll enjoy sun-bleached white sand beaches and a remote, tranquil setting.
Each region of the Florida Keys boasts its own unique character, ensuring there is something for everyone in the islands. For those seeking a lively atmosphere and heaps of entertainment, Key West is best, with everything from live music bars and vibrant restaurants to theatres and galleries. Meanwhile, families will love Marathon, with its activities for everyone, from golf and diving to swimming with the dolphins.
If you’re searching for a romantic couples’ getaway, escape to the serenity of Islamorada, where you can enjoy historic hikes, stunning vistas, and even some eco-tours.
With approximately 1,700 islands making up the Florida Keys, you may want to just visit here. If that’s the case, discover all our Florida Keys twin-centres here.
In a word: yes! Stretching almost 350 miles from the Dry Tortugas north to St. Lucie Inlet, a visit to continental US’ only coral reef ecosystem is a memory you’ll treasure forever. Snorkel in the shallows, scuba dive in the deep, and enjoy some of the country’s best fishing. Just be careful to follow the guidance for visiting the area, to help ensure the reef survives and thrives for years to come, including avoiding touching or stepping on the reef and choosing mineral-based sun creams.
Shopaholics will never want to leave Orlando, with an abundance of options to choose from whatever your budget.
Start at the Mall at Millenia, just 10 minutes from Universal Orlando. This world-class shopping destination boasts over 150 stores and eateries, including designer boutiques and globally-loved brands, such as MAC Cosmetics, Apple, and H&M.
Central Florida’s largest shopping centre, The Florida Mall, is just 25 minutes from Walt Disney World and Orlando International Airport, with 1.8 million square feet of shops, eateries, and experiences, including the one-of-a-kind, family-friendly Crayola Experience.
For souvenir shopping, head to Disney Springs (home of the world’s largest Disney store) or the Universal Studios Store during your park visits.
